Realistically the pixel should be good for 4 yearish.

Wow that's a great price!

I bought my Nexus 6p prior to the Pixel being released for about 425 brand new.

Ya, I had a hardware upgrade offer from Koodo, an extra $140 off.

So I can finally sell my note 4.

Renders of the upcoming Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL confirm small bezels, camera bump, and no 3.5mm jack

:rukidding::yuno::fuuuuu::fuuuuu::fuuuuu:

twitchyzero 07-26-2017 01:43 PM

just make the current pixel with minimal bezels and waterproof it, dont touch anything else, how hard is that ffs :rukidding:

edit: i guess if there's less and less distinction to an iphone then it makes it easier for me to jump ship

radioman 07-26-2017 01:48 PM

ya I love my pixel. All it needed was smaller bezels and waterproof like mentioned above.

Thing is solid as a rock too, just dropped it on concrete from like 4 ft up and just a ding on the side.

Well finally after a little bit of patience after returning my s8 plus back to Koodo, my hardware upgrade offer got pre loaded back into my account.

Got the pixel XL for 464 before taxes :fuckyea:

Iceman_2K 07-30-2017 09:00 PM

Man, i can't stand that - if i got a ding like that, i'd be selling it and getting a new one.

I don't think I will ever buy another Samsung phone because of the OS(bloatware drains the battery).

Pure android phones is what I am sticking with.

Expresso 07-31-2017 09:42 AM

^The funny thing is I've always struggled with battery life with the 6P.

Gh0stRider 07-31-2017 11:09 PM

Fuck the 6P

The only one thing I missed from the 6p, along with the nexus 6, is the stereo speakers.

I already anticipated that the Pixel XL single speaker is going to be tinny, which I can deal with.

But at least I don't have to fully charge the phone 3 times throughout the whole day haha

FYI they are having a promotion on google store canada website until aug 26, pixel is reduced by $125 and Pixel XL by $200, and with free google VR while supplies last.

Price is still quite steep for the Pixel XL at $849.

Koodo's offering is quite more aggressive, $100 + $504 tab. But no Google daydream VR.

https://www.theverge.com/circuitbrea...e-front-bezels

disappointed if this is it. Too much bezel and looks like a fucking 6P

PDKGD3 08-07-2017 09:27 PM

Anyone having a low call-volume problem? On the internet some are saying its a 3rd party app causing that, but I did a factory reset and the same thing still goes on

Gh0stRider 08-21-2017 08:50 PM

You can download Android 8.0 Oreo right now if you have a compatible Pixel or Nexus device https://mobilesyrup.com/2017/08/21/a...nexus-devices/

Or if you have compatible device, join the Android Beta Program.

The deal for the Pixel XL at Koodo is now dead.

Maybe it will pop up again soon somewhere like Newegg.

TypeRNammer 08-31-2017 11:08 PM

Android Oreo is available for download now for Google Pixel and Nexus phones.

Expresso 09-01-2017 08:38 AM

^Or you just join the Beta program like I mentioned above...

Fuck companies getting rid of 3.5mm jack. Until all phones get rid of it, I refuse buy a phone without one. The technology is almost a century and a half old, but it's been reliable 100% of the time more or less until the physical connector is actually worn out from the plug fucking the hole after a few thousand times. I fucking HATE bluetooth for anything other than having to use it to connect to my car's stereo.

Sometimes shit doesn't pair, sometimes it cuts out, fuck bluetooth. it fuckin' sucked when transferring files from the old sony ericson days, it fuckin' sucks today for music quality and phone calls. Latency for the mother fuckin' lose.

ZN6 09-01-2017 11:45 AM

By the way, does anyone else see how god damned backwards thinking it is when you get rid of the 3.5mm just so that you have to buy another converter cable to use your 3.5mm headphones/earbuds?

They can't kill the 3.5mm jack, they simply made the inconvenience the end users' problem. fuck that shit.

Just got my pixel xl 32gb today, from a warranty claim. Too bad they only gave me a refurb one, so no charger.

I (foolishly) immediately updated to Oreo, apparently this is a terrible idea for battery life. Did anyone else update and find issues? How long did it take to settle in?

I don't have a reference, because I've never experienced 7.0.

Also for the above remarks about the speakers, it actually does suck. I've had a Blackberry Priv and that was a lot better, granted it was front facing stereo speakers.

radioman 09-17-2017 10:07 AM

Yes I updated mine last week and I've noticed that battery life has been "worse" but I'm still getting through the day with moderate use.
