^This is why I've been wary about returning to Android, the battery optimization is just terrible.

I would say the same also.

Usually end the day with 14 hours since last charged and about 3.5 hours screen time. With about 20% battery left?

So far using the phone for the last couple of weeks, didn't have to resort to using a power bank to get through the day.

I (foolishly) immediately updated to Oreo, apparently this is a terrible idea for battery life. Did anyone else update and find issues? How long did it take to settle in?

I don't have a reference, because I've never experienced 7.0.

Also for the above remarks about the speakers, it actually does suck. I've had a Blackberry Priv and that was a lot better, granted it was front facing stereo speakers.

damn, they gave me new charger, cables and sim card tool.

Just sold my Pixel XL. I'm surprised I actually kept it this long. The hardware isn't good, the design is bleh. I'm hoping LG does a better job on the Pixel XL2 than HTC did. Only thing it had going was the latest Android OS 8.0 which i hated. Switched back to S7 Edge / S8+ combo and waiting to see what comes. S7 Edge is lighter, thinner, and way smaller for the same screen size.

Battery isn't as bad as people made it seem. But like I said, I don't have a reference point. On the bright side, compared to my Priv with 3410 mAh, I have yet to need to charge the pixel.

Both phones finished charging at ~ 8:30. Priv was running data + hotspot the entire day, but pixel was used primarily for photos with WiFi on. Ended up having to charge the Priv in the car.

IDK why Pixel shows only 12 hrs of being on battery. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...60dcb0fa07.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...5e7f29d3ef.jpg

Edit: Just noticed pixel shows 29% on the graph, but I only have 19% left? My only gripe about Oreo so far is that I can't tap the battery to get more info, like I was able to on 6.0

my XL has been lagging a bit since the Oreo upgrade
i too have noticed slightly worse battery life
I still prefer HTC over LG/Samsung/Huawei though...smaller bezel and hence smaller size, front speakers and waterproof is all it needs

Anyone using an aftermarket wall adapter and haven't burned their house down? Since the phone didn't come with one, I need to buy one.

twitchyzero 09-21-2017 07:56 PM

Alphabet is going to uptake the Pixel team from HTC for a billion dollars

makes me wonder why they went to LG this year to build the XL

Why Google?s HTC deal may be different than the Motorola bomb - MarketWatch

BIC_BAWS 09-21-2017 10:48 PM

Bought a used 18W Google charger. The Pixel says "Charging Rapidly" but 4 hrs until full, wtf?

Expresso 09-22-2017 08:59 AM

^Could be a bad cable.

Gh0stRider 09-22-2017 09:23 AM

Call support, Google is shipping me a charger.

I mean they ask me to send all accessories back and then send me back refurb with no charger. mmmk.

twitchyzero 09-22-2017 12:23 PM

don't forget there's a direct link for support under Settings which is linked to your google account & thus device(s)

For those of us who RMA'd our 6Ps, this is a great win!

Curious to see how much the Pixel XL 32GB will be worth when trading in for Pixel XL2

EX-R 09-24-2017 08:11 PM

anyone notice the phone gets hot more often after the oreo update?

twitchyzero 09-24-2017 09:10 PM

don't notice a difference on the XL but it has tempered glass and case on the back
Oreo has been the glitchiest version of Android I've used in 6 years...disappointing update

BIC_BAWS 09-25-2017 04:47 PM

I don't have reference point, but it seems surprisingly hot for a Google phone. :/

still on 7.1.2, didn't do the update

BIC_BAWS 09-25-2017 11:58 PM

Battery life is surprisingly good. Same battery size as last phone, but last phone was on 6.x. I'm getting at least a full day of usage. At 32% rn, left this morning with 89%

Based on the prices they are offering, you should get more on the secondary market. Good option for people who just want to get rid of it I guess.

I've ran Oreo on my 6P for a couple of weeks and didn't really notice major changes. What issues did you run into?

twitchyzero 09-26-2017 05:41 PM

delays and lag
once i couldn't even pull up the app drawer, had to reboot
battery is about 5h SoT which isnt terrible...but on Android Nougat i got around 6-7 hours

Gh0stRider 09-27-2017 09:22 AM

trade in program
Quote:

Trade-in prices for the Pixel and Pixel XL are now live on the Google Store, so you can see what you're likely to get if you swap your first generation model for the one of new devices coming October 4th.

The price ranges are as follows:

Pixel 32GB – $150.00 - $350.00

Pixel 128GB – $152.00 - $360.00

Pixel XL 32GB – $160.00 - $400.00

Pixel XL 128GB – $162.00 - $410.00

These are just estimates, it's important to note, and the actual amount will depend on the condition of the phone. Those numbers could also change by the time the new phones are launched, but they should give you a good ballpark figure. They're actually not too bad, even if only adding an extra $10 for the 128GB model over 32GB seems a little unfair.

twitchyzero 09-27-2017 10:27 AM

is that CAD or USD?

the vanilla 32GB might be worth trading in...everything else should try selling on classifieds first
