Apple is the only company in the industry that does same-day servicing for most phone repairs. It's one of the main reasons that Apple can charge a premium and in my mind, a big reason why consumers are willing to pay extra dollars for it. Every other company requires you to mail it in, so it's nothing out of the norm.

Samsung Canada did have a walk-in service center in Richmond though. It closed down a year ago because it was supposed to relocate to an area in Burnaby, but I haven't heard anything about it in a while.

The repair center near No. 6 and Westminster Hwy is a contract business which shut down and laid everyone off.

my S7 Edge does that as well. It's intermittent tho and I probably won't send it in for warranty until the 1 year is almost up

The new Samsung repair center is in Surrey, not sure where though.

Went to samsung service centre in vietnam and it was amazing. broke my phone screen nd found this place online. as soon as i got there they make you take a number, waited for my turn, spoke to a repairman and got it fixed within an hour. it was pretty expensive but still cheaper than getting it done at crystal mall lol $220 to fix a note 5 led screen.

We need something like that here

do you have a youtube channel?
can/do you do reviews?

LOL

I used the S8 for 12 hours and went back to my G6... I was never a fan of touchwiz and how they implement software. however, the phone IS a premium device, it feels like one and over time, touchjizz has gotten a lot better.

the fingerprint sensor is just in such an awkward spot

I hope he's not on RS :lol

G6 fingerprint reader was very accurate for me. It registered like 95% of the time. I'm lucky to get like 50% with the S8 (which is why I disabled it).

Really? Mine works amazing. Took some time but I've even gotten used to the positioning. I use it 90% of the time now, with 10% of time using pattern lock.

dat_steve 05-01-2017 08:14 AM

after reading all the negative comments on the fingerprint sensor i gave myself the weekend to finally set it up and consciously use it. I actually really like it - picks up my finger properly 95% of the time.

dlo 05-01-2017 05:51 PM

fingerprint isnt that bad.. h8ers gun h8 haha

I am struggling to get the S8 or S8+6gb in Hong Kong. Does 6gb really matter? My current phone is only 2gb and I don't find it slow at all.

You just answered your own question

asian_XL 05-03-2017 04:14 PM

I had a LG G4 with 3gb ram, it was commonly known the interface was laggy, so that slowness can be the ram or OS. Never tried the S8 with a bunch of stuff installed, there could be issues current user is experiencing.

Tim Budong 05-04-2017 09:14 PM

more ram doesnt mean faster. how the OS and skin handles the ram is more or less going to be the difference

with that said.. the fingerprint sensor location is a personal preference...

Kicking myself for not pre-ordering one of these because now I want one and I won't get the gear vr headset for free.

Ugh.

If you get the Levels speaker I'll trade you my VR headset+controller for it. My VR headset is still brand new.

TBH
this phone kinda sucks. Its pretty laggy and bixby is fucking annoying.

I don't use the phone for much but everything lags a few milliseconds vs iPhone is butter smooth.

good thing I got this for $90 or else id be pissed

bigzz786786 05-07-2017 05:30 PM

I guess my decision was made for me, my uncle in india ended up buying me the G6 lgh870ds version which will have the quad dac and support the lte bands for virgin mobile. Im hoping its a black colour, and i hope he ships it out as a gift so duty fees will be low.

Thanks for your input. My note 3 can only connect via WiFI. So I need a phone badly. Went to look at the s8 plus. I liked it a lot. But decided to sleep on it. Meanwhile I used my friends iPhone 6 plus and oh man. That thing is so smooth! IPhone 7 no headphone jack and iPhone 8 coming.. Bixby is annoying.

Razor Ramon HG 05-07-2017 10:45 PM

I also have a Samsung Gear VR 2017 with a controller if anyone is looking to trade their gift with purchase speaker.

Hakkaboy 05-08-2017 11:02 AM

i have the level pro speaker from my s7e purchase still bnib. I might be interested in trading it for a BNIB VR set
