Got it today as well ! Phone is wicked. The display is gorgeous. Very slim and well fitting in the hand.

No shipping notification. Just showed up. Unexpected but they threw in a nice little bonus item for those who order direct from Samsung. It's an Amplifier Speaker Dock, looks cool but is kinda useless haha

Just showed up with purolator

Ya. Didn't know it came with a speaker dock as well. Nice bonus

Can anyone with the phone comment on the fingerprint sensor location? How is it?

dat_steve 04-20-2017 10:38 AM

preordered the afternoon of the first day, but my phone still hasn't arrived :(

I don't find myself using or needing the fingerprint sensor. The location is inconvenient. The iris scanner does work great and it is quite fast. For when times, where I'm not holding the phone up then I just use the lock pattern.

any recommendations on a fast charging wireless charger? or is the Samsung one the fastest?

Urrtoast 04-20-2017 11:55 AM

The Samsung wireless charger will be the best for the phone. And should there ever be a problem it will all be warrantied without issues

I've been using this for my S7 Edge for a year and now with my S8. Cheaper than the Samsung one and also has 2 coils vs 1. Very happy with it.

Using this fast qi charger dock in my car and works great, would highly recommend to anyone that wants a wireless charging car dock.

Agree 100%

I don't think my Smart Lock is working the way it's suppose to. it keeps asking me for my PIN every time.

I programmed a trusted place for it.
At first it seemed to work as I would press the home button, then swipe. Now I press the home button and have to put in my PIN. or I double tap the notification and then I have to put in my PIN.

I've tried both letting the phone auto lock itself after 5 seconds and by pressing the power button. Same result.

I usually don't put any security on my phones cuz i find it really annoying to have to always do an extra step, but the Paybyphone app doesn't allow you to use it without setting up security.

Got mine this morning. Awesome phone! Iris scanner is really quick. The 'speaker' dock is just a stand that amplifies the phone speaker. Free is free I guess.

Use the mobile web version of Pay by Phone. It works just as well as the app and doesn't require you to set up a lock on your phone.

Razor Ramon HG 04-22-2017 09:21 AM

Picked one up yesterday to play with. Samsung Pay doesn't seem to work at the McDonalds self-serve?

Gucci Mane 04-22-2017 05:39 PM

Played around with the S8+ today. Pretty damn nice phone and damn does it ever feel good in the hand.

The temptation to buy is real.

Canada will never get a dual SIM version because it would never be used by 99% of the population

My must have apps are Zedge, Tapatalk, Google Play Music, and The Score.

Apps are only a small portion of what you can do on android.

Once you familiarize yourself with the basic phone functions, I highly suggest you change your Launcher.

It essentially replaces your "home screen" and all its associated functions, allowing you tons of useful features and customization including things like icon packs, gestures, hardware/software shortcut keys, # of icons, how folders look, etc etc. I personally use Nova Launcher - try the free one, and get the paid one if you like it.

I'm not a fan of Google Music, so I use PowerAmp, but I think Samsung already has a decent music player baked into the phone.

MX Player is awesome for playing videos, and will support 99% of what you throw at it. Samsung already may have a decent player baked in.

You can also change keyboards - I use SwiftKey. You can swipe on the spacebar to switch languages, and it's highly customizable.

Tegra_Devil 04-23-2017 07:38 PM

ive got a lot to learn coming from iphone

SaviorSelf_666 04-23-2017 10:25 PM

Here are some I use:

GBoard for keyboard
Pocket Casts for podcasts
Spotify for music
Baconreader for reddit
Nova launcher for customizing
Textra for SMS
Inbox for gmail
Photos for backup/gallery
Feedly for news/content
Tapatalk for forums
Chrome for internet
Caffeinate for keeping the phone from sleeping

Those are the most common for me.

Usually you back it up using the desktop software:
