There isn't any need to download a custom launder. The default launcher is good enough anyways these days so is fine. Beside this is your first time using android just keep everything simple.

Grace UX of the S7 and now 8 are far less bloaty and simpler to use than Touchwiz ever was.

I just sent an email to our guy at Rogers about this phone. If I can get it with my corporate discount, and also have it unlocked for free it will be worth it to upgrade from my S7 edge. Quote:

Well, in a span of a month, I've used an iPhone 7, G6 and S8.
I'm sure this goes without saying, but you're pretty much paying for a minor specification boost and the new bezel design.
Here are some gripes that I have with the phone:
* Fingerprint sensor is in an awkward position and requires multiple attempts to read, yet the iris scanner isn't consistent enough to use as a replacement for a fingerprint sensor (I've since turned off my phone lock completely due to frustration)
* Bixby button is a sad attempt of pushing bloatware on the consumer (with awkward placement as well)
* No stereo speakers like the 6P or iPhone 7 (I know most smartphones don't have this, but when you pay over a thousand bucks.. it definitely enhances the experience)
With that said, I definitely like this phone. It looks and feels like what a flagship device should be and should easily tie me over until the iPhone 8 comes out.
However, I am tempted to return it and get an S7 Edge instead. Half the cost with most of the same features. Only thing I'd miss are the slim bezels. Could also get the LG G6 again (had no complaints), but I noticed the camera's auto-focus could be a hit or miss sometimes and required a tap.

The S8 seems a little rushed with the shitty fingerprint sensor location and no dual camera, maybe the Note 8 will be more impressive.

but you are right though phone these days isn't really worth to upgrade every year. In the past 2 years I went through ip5, ip6, 1+1, Sony Xperia Z3, Samsung S5, 1+3, S7 Edge. Way too much money spent. Currently really happy with the 1+3.

The finger print sensor has been pretty good for me. Quick and gets it on the first try. The fingerprint sensor on the iPhone SE sucks compared to my s8+. On the SE I need to hold still for at least 1 sec for it to read properly.

i'm actually not minding the location of the fingerprint sensor anymore. It's surprisingly quick too like the iris scanner.

Careful, for some reason my fingerprint sensor has a faint scratch on it. I assume its not glass/metal like the rest of the phone.
Don't know how it happened, screen protector on the front and back with a case.

Carrier pre-order gift is on the way. Should arrive Tuesday.
Way faster than last time.. waited over two months and had to contact the Canadian CEO's office to get my Father's Day wireless headphones

Anyone having battery drain issues with Android System and Kernel (Android OS)? It's high in GSAM. http://imgur.com/a/8pEeF
Screenshots above.
Not sure if the battery life is normal or not. I haven't had an Android phone in a while and I don't ever remember seeing those two components in my battery charts. Usually device idle or screen was the number one.

Another update. Haven't charged my phone since yesterday.
BTW, this is S8 and not S8+
Seems pretty good on second thought.

so Samsung is giving me the run around regarding my s8 WiFi issue. It seems to be a very common problem, but wont admit to it. They want me to send in my cell and expect a 3 week turn around without a cell, which doesn't even guarantee a fix since they don't even know how to fix it.
Samsung can fuck themselves. I have buyers remorse. Should not have left apple

Apple is the only company in the industry that does same-day servicing for most phone repairs. It's one of the main reasons that Apple can charge a premium and in my mind, a big reason why consumers are willing to pay extra dollars for it. Every other company requires you to mail it in, so it's nothing out of the norm.
Samsung Canada did have a walk-in service center in Richmond though. It closed down a year ago because it was supposed to relocate to an area in Burnaby, but I haven't heard anything about it in a while.

As a long time Samsung user I also would say their after sales support is absolute shit. It's something they could learn from Apple but still nothing has changed.
