Last Nintendo I bought was the GameCube. Brother bought the wii (which we haven’t even taken out of storage for 5+ years). No wiiU, no switch. I don’t even game much on my xboneS.
For a casual gamer who misses his hardcore Nintendo childhood. Is the switch lite worth it? I remember loving my original DS (then ds lite) for years.
I wouldn't recommend the switch lite, mostly due to the joy con issues that Nintendo has been having. With the regular Switch, you can just ship the joy cons back to Nintendo and get them repaired. With the switch lite, any repairs needed will require you to ship the entire console back.
Also, depending if you want to do party games or couch co op, the regular Switch would be better.
I’m definitely a couch gamer (not pc) and definitely casual. Last game I was able to actually dedicate some hours to was fallout 4. Before that? I gta5 maybe.
I like the idea of the more portable size of the lite, but it seems the extra ability to dock to the TV is worth it. Would definitely need the pro controller of some sort. Those little toy controllers are a joke
I’ve travelled Europe etc with the regular one and I never found it too big to carry with me etc. The screen size is also about as small as you want to go for games like BoTW because of the high level of detail

The Pokémon game is pretty crazy..beautiful graphics and fun gameplay so far, a must pick up for any fan, even if the last games you’ve played were red/blue

I have an 8bitdo SN30 Pro and it is pretty good. The d-pad has issues where diagonals are super sensitive, and will pick up false presses. No noticeable lag in co-op either, although the one game i played it that way had a lag adjustment (Zelda rhythm game)
i had big hopes for this game as a big time switch title, however it was a pretty big disappointment IMO. Some points of contention with me:
-Game can easily be beat in under 25 hours, I took about that to finish the main story line (aka the only story line) while also attempting to catch every new Pokémon I came upon. This is generally a path to success with the “grinding” for exp aspects, however in the end you could probably get by with little to no grinding at all.
-New pokemon are nice and the starters are well done, however some are just redesigned classic Pokémon (see meowth, pontya etc.)
-there is virtually no path to take other than the main story line, there are no side quests, very few puzzles, and no even “take this to this guy, take that to that guy” type quests.
-The main gameplay had so much potential, the graphics are beautiful, however the story was completely lacking. I’ve only really played through Red/Blue, and a few of the older games however the side storyline in Red (for those familiar) where you save the power plant was almost more interesting than this entire game..
-The “gigamax” feature was mostly a novelty. It looked cool when you had a Pokémon that had a different animation etc but at the end of the day most animations were the same for all sorts of different types.
-the new thing of elements coming into play like electrifying the battle field or making it rain were irrelevant to me, I won regardless.
-During the entire 25 hour game play I never fainted once. I easily beat every gym and every trainer.
-the additional gameplay after the final credits was so hoakey and tacked on I don’t see myself picking the game up again.
-for a game this beautifully designed what a huge let down imo.
6/10

Thinking of getting a switch but there doesn't seem to be a lot of a deals on. The best deals is the Switch (old version) and Mario Bro U for 399 which is sold out everywhere.

i dropped out halfway through Black2/White2 (i had played every gen up to there), missed out everything up until i picked up Sun and Moon... was already disappointed at how ridiculously easy it was. Didn't have very high expectations for any games onwards...
I enjoyed Sword and Shield until I spent way too much time in the wild area and I wasn't even trying to level up my Pokemon anymore. I just kept feeding everyone candy and got really bored of it.
After beating shield I sold the game and used the proceeds to buy Let’s Go Eevee
Although it’s a remake of Yellow, (red is still probably one of my top 10 games) and they definitely dumbed down the entire game, ie. you don’t have to battle Pokémon before you catch them, the special abilities like cut, swim, fly, don’t take a spot in your move lineup, ecery Pokémon gets exp from battle right off the bat whether they battled or not
This remake is such a superior game to Sword/Shield. And it’s obvious they built/modified this engine to make Sword/shield as the animations and whatnot are exactly the same. Hell, I feel like some of the animations like the rocket introductions etc look even better then the sword/shield one

the plus side is you're getting video games on the switch like 2 months ahead of release date, the shit thing is you're losing online play with the risk of the console being banned online.
one switch for online play, one switch for hacked games if you're not doing it already
Has anyone tried Untitled Goose Game on the Switch? I purchased it for PC, but was wondering if game play / controls are any different on the Switch. I recently won a Switch in a raffle at work.

I am really excited that a new Animal Crossing is landing in less than 2 months. There is also going to be an Animal Crossing New Horizons themed Switch. It looks amazing:
Just wondering if anyone would be interested in doing a family plan, I got 5 people and would like to see if anyone wants to join, it would be about $6.50 a year
Pm me if interested and I'll give you the e-transfer details
Edit - spots filled

Man the game really cripples your first day doesn't it? Once you order your house and the museum, there's shit all to do. Let me get to the other side of the river! Let me chop down trees! Let me change my damn hair!
