Is it just me or does a regular 5-series seem a bit out of place? Couldn't they have waited for the next M5?

The original series didn't feature all M-cars either. I remember a 740i, Z3, 330Ci cabriolet, and a regular 528i as some of the cast of the first run.

It's a 540i. You can see the model number pretty clearly at 7:26.
