Samsung S7 explosion, Samsung now doomed?

Winnipeg man claims Samsung Galaxy S7 phone exploded in his hand | CTV News

legit news as well and evidence

this is not looking too well for samsung... from washing machines as well! and now S7 / note 7

its over?

murd0c 11-16-2016 03:17 PM

if this is the case this won't be good for Samsung that's for sure

radioman 11-16-2016 03:36 PM

So its 1 case so far? This probably wouldn't have made the news if the note fiasco never happened. Hasn't the S7 been out since early 2016?

Wonder if the guy had heated seats or something. I try not to leave my phone in my pockets while I drive but store is somewhere in my car.

MarkyMark 11-16-2016 05:04 PM

The S7 has been out awhile and sold millions, I don't think one random incident will kill them, but it makes you wonder what the cause of all this is.

jeedee 11-16-2016 05:45 PM

Never using another Samsung phone after my S4 had 2 bloated OEM batteries with insane battery drainage.

Oneplus or Nexus for me from now on

Gucci Mane 11-16-2016 08:13 PM

im kinda sitting here going :heckno: with my S7. but then again, there are other factors that could have caused this. using a non standard charging brick/cable.. etc etc.

Honestly it's a single incident I wouldn't worry too much.

FerrariEnzo 11-16-2016 10:11 PM

maybe I can return my phone for a full refund and get something else.. lol OnePlus3T is coming out!!

????? this is a brand that has thousands of phones exploding + washing mashing machines. I think it's safe to worry.

My Nexus 5 had a bloated OEM battery. Expanded so much it forced off the snap-on plastic back cover.

Thousands?

Toronto man had over heat problems but didn't explode, surrey dude had problems too and both were edges

Winnipeg man had the regular s7

!LittleDragon 11-18-2016 11:45 AM

Google any brand + explode and you're going to find results. Anything with a battery can and do explode on occasion.

News media loves hot topics. When a Note 7 exploded on a plane prior to take off, it was huge news... but how many people knew earlier this year, an iPhone 6 exploded mid flight on route to Hawaii? Probably not, exploding phones weren't a hot topic at the time.

My s7 edge heats up quite a bit when i use it with the Gear VR

Yeah dude the whole Note 7 recall was a conspiracy on behalf of the media and Apple trying to bring Samsung down.

:lawl:

FerrariEnzo 11-18-2016 01:10 PM

my S7Edge is fine...

DragonChi 11-18-2016 04:15 PM

The dude didn't say anything about a conspiracy.

What he did say, and I'll repeat it for clarity, is that it wasn't the focus of news outlets at the time, so it wasn't as much as a big deal.

It is true that all LiPo batteries have the potential to explode when overheated or pierced.

You seem to have a strong personal bias against Samsung, instead of speculating, I'll ask you to elaborate.

Tegra_Devil 11-19-2016 12:03 PM

i cant wait till im using my samsung s8 with VR and it blows up into my eyeballs and blinds me for life.....

that being said....still gonna get a S8 and VR hahaha #yolo

!LittleDragon 11-20-2016 07:27 PM

Yeah, I mentioned nothing about a conspiracy. It's just how the news works. Exploding phones are yesterdays news now, how many people outside of this thread know about this S7 incident?

By the time the next round of Samsung phones come out, most people would've forgot about the Note 7... Just like they forgot about the VW scandal, runaway Toyotas, exploding Firestones. I can't even remember who shot Cecil the Lion and the news made such a huge deal about that...

FerrariEnzo 11-21-2016 07:39 AM

Not sure which is more dangerous, having phones exploding or having all your data sent to chinese servers **cough blu cough**

I was being sarcastic. Just slightly mocking because his post seems to suggest Samsung is getting unwarranted news coverage.

Look, I don't think the S7 has any significant issues like the Note7 but any of these one-offs making it on the news is totally justified due to the Note7 fiasco and washing machines.

DragonChi 11-22-2016 02:55 AM

let me help you with that
