Vancouver vehicle inspection

So I'm looking at purchasing a used vehicle off craigslist but I wanted to get the car looked at first by a reputable car mechanic to see if there's any problems. Is there any that could come to where the car is located in vancouver and how much is their rate for the inspection ? Thanks

Generally, you want to bring the car to a shop so it can be inspected on a hoist.

Yep and if seller doesn't want to bring it to a shop walk away. The seller could be hiding something you don't want to see

What type of car? This would help narrow down shops and their respective specializations...

^ I'm looking at getting a mitsubishi lancer. He's willing to bring it to a mechanic in the area. He recommended one by kingsway fraser but it closes around 5:30 and he's located by 35th by knight street. I'm not off work until 5:30 so any shops that are open later in the area would be very beneficial.

Your not going to find any open after 5:30. Best bet is to find a place, make an appointment and get the owner to drop it off. Have the shop give you the inspection, or low down.
