This Audi Q8 is going to be shown at Detroit, Audi just released the concept video online
i don't get the attraction europeans have to this vehicle type. it seems to fall into the same category as the merc GLE/bmw X6/etc.? it's so big, but can't carry more than 5 people and has limited cargo capacity. but whenever i google for highlights the UK car press always have the q8 front and center:

The Audi Q8 is based on Audi's large Q7 model and shares its 117.6-inch wheelbase. The concept is said to use a plug-in hybrid powertrain with a heady 516.3 lb-ft of torque. And a hybrid Q8 will likely share the top powertrain spot along with perhaps an SQ8 high-performance model. But we expect the Q7's 252-hp 2.0-liter four-cylinder and 333-hp 3.0-liter V-6 to make up the majority of Q8 sales.
This concept certainly has a slick silhouette thanks to that steeply sloped rear window. Yes, that cuts down on the cargo volume (the concept has 22.2 cu-ft of space behind the rear seat) and it means there isn't room for a third row of seats either. But no matter. In this kind of sports crossover, performance is way more important than practicality. Thanks to Quattro all-wheel drive and the wide track (likely optional) adaptive air suspension, the Q8 should be loads of fun.

I know some people will hate it but Kia Stinger looks pretty cool, 365hp and rwd
finally read the specs and it does look good in print... big motor option is a v6 twin turbo, available AWD, LSD rear? but sadly only comes with a 8-spd slushbox, even though there are paddle shifters. still, it makes me think of it as a peasant version of the stillborn Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge, or maybe a poor man's audi a6? but i can't find anything solid about pricing... i guess we have to wait and see what it's like to drive in real life.
from the internet:

The Stinger is low-slung, aggressive, and rides on a 114.4-inch wheelbase, so it's longer than cars like the Audi A4 and BMW 3-Series. A 255-hp 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder comes standard, but a 3.3-liter twin-turbo V-6 is optional with 365 hp. Both are paired to an 8-speed automatic. Kia says the more powerful versions should hit 60 mph in 5.1 seconds and top out at 167 mph. The Stinger is available all-wheel drive, but even rear-drive models get a standard limited-slip differential. And that name is just plain cool.

It's not only the Euros, but the Japanese who do this too.
When we were in the market for 7 seat SUV we cross shopped everything from the Lexus RX series to the Audi Q series. It basically came down to needing space, and that's why the highlander won out.
Even if we're talking a small folding jumper seat in the rear, having the ability to carry more than five people is a necessity for many folks. Even if you don't use it all the time, it's nice to have the option.

^Wow that digital instrument cluster looks pretty sweet!
Wish auto makers would make them as an optional extra (a la carte) in their higher trim models. I still like my old school analog tach and speedo and don't want to be staring at a 'screen' the entire time
