Buy a classic car

Hi all,

I'm here to get a suggestion. I want to buy a used car for my younger brother. I know it is a difficult task to choose a used classic car. So, I searched online and find a blog (The Ultimate Guide To Buying A Classic Car | Service Plus 416 : Toronto Automotive Garage) which says about the things we should consider and tricks to find the best car. I got some ideas, but I still need an expert idea about this. Has anyone purchased a used classic car? Please share your experience of buying such cars. Waiting for your reply.

Thanks in advance.

I have.

Best advice I can tell you is you have to know the car you are looking at or you won't notice what's not correct with it. Models, years trims, options etc. This is of course on top of inspecting the usual like a shitty resto/rust/bondo etc. I have no idea what kind of car you're looking at, but you need to learn everything about it. When the care you looking at is 40+ years old, lots of parts and broken/swapped.

I spent a considerable amount of time two years ago preparing to buy an old British roadster. Circumstances ended up changing to the point where I had neither the time nor space for one so it fell through, but finding other owners and learning about their cars first was invaluable. Find out when and where you local classic car clubs meet and get some first-hand and hands-on experience around the type of car you want to buy. When I was looking at Spitfires and GT6s, words and pictures only went so far!

Good luck!
