My 7+ was basically submerged in my pocket full of water at niagra falls as it was a downpour on top of the water from the falls, still works fine

Thought 7 was rated to go underwater?

Iceman_2K 07-22-2017 07:33 AM

The Galaxy S8 and S8+ (IP68) is water resistant up to 1.5 meters (4.92 feet) for 30 minutes. The iPhone 7 is IP67-rated water and dust resistant, meaning it can be submerged in 1 meter (3.28 feet) of water for up to 30 minutes. So yeah, you're right, its rated to go under water up to a meter.

Any issues after you dunk it or dive in the water with it? My iPhone 6s fell out of my pocket into a pool of slush while I was shovelling the driveway in the backyard, which is when i moved to the 7.

Only 1 minor issue I had was if it was in the water for toooo long. I went out and tried to play music and there was no sound. Due to the water clogging the speaker. But within 10 minutes it worked again.

I did shoot lots of underwater videos and man. The quality is amazeballs!

twitchyzero 07-22-2017 12:17 PM

ip67 is good enough for me in those 'oops' moments
if you want snorkeling/diving videos, probably use an action cam

Gotta say... that headpiece/front camera cutout is ugly as sin. They should have gone the way Xiaomi Mix if they were to get rid of the symmetrical design iPhone has based on for so long.

Razor Ramon HG 07-27-2017 09:41 PM

I think they are going to make the notification area at the top solid black since they're using OLED screens.

twitchyzero 07-27-2017 10:18 PM

hope it's as revolutionary as it's being hyped up to be
last exciting iPhone was the 4
c'mon, do it for Steve!

Order an Ip6s from Fido as a temp replacement for my 1+3 for now. It came out to be $479 + tax for the IP6s 32GB.

For the past few months the 1+3 have been nothing but issue. Battery would drain from 100% to 50 to 55% when I go to bed, GPS not working...... all these issue can be fix with a full reset but it always come back after a week or two. Check the battery status is the system that's draining the battery. I already have everything force stop.

iPhone might be overprice but in terms of standy time is a lot better than most android after a year. Not sure why but most android phones I use after a year they tend to have battery issue (with the expection of my my Samsung S4 which I install a custom kernel )

Maybe I will get the iphone 8 once it comes out.

Razor Ramon HG 08-15-2017 12:58 PM

Work is giving a subsidy on the iPhone 8, so I'm looking forward to picking it up next month.

MarkyMark 08-15-2017 01:08 PM

Apple finally gets slim bezels and somehow manage to make the phone look uglier.

Iceman_2K 08-17-2017 06:07 PM

So I took my 7 with me while paddle boarding in Lake Tahoe, and it was great. Was able to get video above and below water and no issues afterwards. It was weird being able to do it!

your speaker didn't sound funny afterwards?

DavidNguyen 08-17-2017 09:37 PM

It does sound muffled. But shake it so water falls out and let it dry. Should be back to normal within 25 minutes?

Ulic Qel-Droma 08-18-2017 06:22 AM

youre not supposed to intentionally get the iphone 7 wet LOL.

Iceman_2K 08-18-2017 07:20 AM

No not at all - then again, the water might have gotten out while i was trying to return the board and paddle. I was most impressed with the fact that I could video and take pics in water...

Its kinda like the Apple Watch series 1 - you're not supposed to, but it works! I want to see the final release specs of the 8 to see if I want to upgrade to it - if the waterproof rating goes up, I might seriously consider it.

tried using one in the shower and the speaker didn't sound right for 2 weeks
ymmv i guess...personally wouldn't try to submerge a product that's rated only splashproof

dapperfied 08-30-2017 09:12 AM

Do you guys think touch ID will remain or will they switch to face recognition?

ForbiddenX 08-30-2017 10:46 AM

Been taking it into the shower with me most times and haven't really had an issues with it lol.

I imagine one of the three outcomes for the higher end iPhone Pro

1) TouchID on front under the screen
2) TouchID on the Apple logo on the back
3) TouchID on the side volume button (although I read Sony has a patent)

I dont understand the big deal with face recognition. Its clunky and unsafe. I really hope apple keeps the touch ID. It actually works really really well.

dapperfied 08-30-2017 01:40 PM

Yeah, same. I can't see bank apps relying on face recognition for security.
