Lots of launch day 8 iphones still available in all sizes and colors lol. Either Apple was finally able to meet the demand or no one is buying the 8 and waiting on the X. More likely the latter.

Probably a mix of both.

you were talking about standardizing then...vhs vs betamax or blu-ray vs hd-dvd

yes and I'll be looking for a Qi charger for the desk and the car's center console

At $1,529 plus tax for the 256gb model the iPhone X is bordering on too expensive. I'm sure people will snap it up but the pricing is a bit insane.

LUL

btw have they said why they skipped 9 and went straight from 8 to X? And why did they release two models at the same time anyway?

First iPhone was released ten years ago, so the X is meant to be an anniversary model. Keynote didn't really capture that part of it well.

I'm thinking that for next year, they're going to rebrand iPhones into a structured tier in a fashion similar to their Macbooks. There's really no other option without it sounding stupid.

iPhone 8 becomes iPhone -> Macbook Air
iPhone 8+ becomes iPhone Plus -> Macbook
iPhone X becomes iPhone Pro -> Macbook Pro

My speculation as to why Apple did two models:

1. iPhone X's price point zones out a pretty large market
2. They are expecting manufacturing delays that are going to result in a lack of inventory well into next year (back to school and Christmas)
3. Expectations for a September launch device from the general public and investors

From a business perspective, I think Apple tanked the sale of iPhone 8 (at the very least, the + model) by announcing it with iPhone X. They should have done it one after another, but not simultaneously.

Many people buy iPhone for the brand value it associates with its users (AKA, bragging right), especially in Asia.

No one in that demographic is going to buy iPhone 8 knowing the X is just around the corner.

Heck, even people outside of that population isn't going to buy an iPhone 8, because their shiny new iPhone is already outdated.

I did a quick search, all iPhone 8 models are still available for pre-order to day 1 pick-up.

If Apple was trying to get iPhone into the lower-end market, it should have introduced iPhone 8 with a cheaper price and not higher than previous gen, like what they did with iPad.

usually don't care for benches but I think we're just starting to come to terms with how beastly the A11 SoC on the TSMC 10nm process is

multi-threaded performance beats the 15W Core i7 in the fully-loaded 13" MacBook Pro...single-core slower by a narrow margin. That's bat-shit insane.

should do wonders for AR and no wonder they can render portrait lighting in real-time

You're one of those fools who looks at the spec sheet numbers only.

Here are benchmark performance tests showing the iPhone 6 blowing the S6 Galaxy out of the water.

Galaxy S6 vs. iPhone 6 face off in performance tests ? and the results may shock you ? BGR

outside of wireless charging, does the 8 represent a significant enough upgrade over the 7?

I'm considering buying my wife a new phone, she's got the 5S. The 7 prices dropped since the 8's were announced and it's a pretty tempting deal.

twitchyzero 09-18-2017 03:00 PM

if she's not a power user...yeah 7 is probably a better buy

Did the 7 prices drop? Didn't notice on their website.

Only one is talking and looking at Benchmarks is you... which in the real world means absolutely shit in today's latest smartphones.
The post was referring to Features on a Iphone x to a S6. Guess you didn't notice that maybe your to busy running benchmarks..lol.... BrokeBack

twitchyzero 09-19-2017 08:21 PM

because it's an old peen contest
12mp vs 16mp...anyone who has a clue knows that means jack
7mm vs 6mm thickness..wow yuge difference
6 core vs 8...it's starting to contradict your benchmark remark

Which amazing features are you referring to? Most of whats listed is just specs. Let me guess...its the headphone jack!? EleGiggle

Do a feature comparison with an iphone 6 vs s6 and see what you get. :)

S6 was such a garbage phone. Every single person I know who had one complained of battery issues lol.

still trying to figure out what 'larger and faster sensor' in the X means...freaking Apple always keep the specs vague as hell

Razor Ramon HG 09-22-2017 04:27 PM

Picked up a 8+

Coming from an iPhone 7, I don't really expect much of an upgrade at all, but I do want a larger screen.

Glass back looks great, more so on the silver and gold models. Picked up a black model since I have the black bars around the screen on the white fronts.

Gonna try it with my wireless Samsung charger

Will make my decision at the end of two weeks if I want to wait for the iPhone X or not.

originalhypa 09-25-2017 11:20 AM

The glass on my 7+ is a joke. I have a small scratch on it already. Whereas my s7 edge glass was mint after 18 months of ownership. I wonder what the long term wear on the 8 is going to be like. Crazy that my 7+ looks like it's a year old, and I've only had it for 5 months. In a case. Treated like gold.....

twitchyzero 09-25-2017 03:01 PM

launch weekend shows the 8/8+ has been the weakest iPhone adoption in the last 4 years

either people are content with their 6S or better iPhones or going Android...some are probably waiting for the X
