Realistic daily: Subaru Outback 6-speed manual

Barebones daily: Base Nissan Micra. 5-speed, crank windows. I think A/C comes standard now.

Sporty daily: Elantra sport MT

Dream daily: V90 XC, STi

edit: A/C is optional on the base micra.

Great cars... nice reliable Toyota powerplant, good on fuel, and they come with some decent creature comforts and suspension you can daily making them not as hard to live with as a 4C or Elise.

searched on autotrader and it seems ontario is where new lotus cars go... 2017 lotus evora 400:

2017 Lotus Evora for sale | autoTRADER.ca

but the starting price is over $110k???

I would get the Charger Hellcat and use the leftover cash (if that's an option) to buy rear pairs of tires. I think sub 100k you can't beat that dollars per horsepower ratio!

at 18.1L/100km city (energuide rated so more like 20L/100km+ in real life), you will need every leftover cent for fuel alone to daily this thing for 4 years :(

Actually pretty surprised that the hellcat is under 100K taxed in, wow, that is a crazy deal...

Though looks like you will be stuck with basic model only... but hey... still a hell car nonetheless

I was kind of looking at them back in the summer of 2013, and I seem to remember them being about ~85K which is why it popped into my head for this thread. Granted the dollar was a lot better, and it may be I was looking at used ones with very low mileage.

I ended up buying a Fiesta ST and using the rest for my mortgage in the end. I just found that I couldn't justify spending that much on a car.

You were looking for a Evora and got a Fiesta?

They're completely different and shouldn't be cross-shopped.

If it was 370Z vs Evora, then I would understand. (or 86 vs Evora, Miata vs Evora, etc.)
But sportscar vs 4 door hatchback family car?

Yeah, it's the best dollars per horsepower ratio, and probably the fastest production car you can buy currently in the 0-60mph or 1/4mile for under $100k..... On the track or a twisty road, it can probably hope to compete most of the time with the other top cars around the same price (M2, M4, RC-F, GT350, etc). That's impressive. Sounds fucking excellent too....

But it's a thousand pounds heavier than its RWD German rivals, which I am guessing isn't because of the sound deadening in the cabin or the extreme attention to detail and refinement in the cabin and interior features.... it's just a fat car with an unfathomably large number of horse powers under the gigantic hood. That's not my style personally, and I'd pay the extra $7k upfront to get me an M3 or C63S instead (both of which are equally superb at turning Michelins into smoke, if you're into that type of thing). Not to say the Hellcat isn't fully equipped with all the latest tech, or that it doesn't qualify as a luxury car... but unless it's changed a lot since I sat in a lower model (SRT8?) a few years ago, then the fit and finish isn't quite Rolls Royce type quality and certainly not up to par with $90k Audis and Mercs.

Also, consider how quickly your $7k savings over the M3 (for instance) is going to be eaten up in fuel and tires.... I mean, it's still a lot of money, but I imagine the rears on a Hellcat are not cheap. And it appears that I will be needing a new set of rears on my M4 (sporting a pathetic 425bhp) with every oil change.

So, in brief: I accept your submission. It is a ridiculous machine and worthy of being in the conversation. However, I can't personally justify taking a big step down in quality and refinement -- plus an extra thousand pounds to lug around -- just to pick up another 0.4s in the 1/4 mile, or shave a few tenths off 0-60 times (when it sticks on launch, that is -- which I assume is impossible w/o traction control). Consider the resale value / residuals, the silly thirst of that monster engine, and it's just not much cheaper than the Germans/Cadillacs/Lexus.

Sort of disagree... if all you want is 700bhp and 11.3's in the quarter, maybe it's a deal, but for similar money you can get some other pretty solid vehicles.

I'll just leave these here k?
