Double sided tape NOT sticking to interior plastics

I've gone ahead and mounted an internal cabin cam but am finding that no matter what type of double sided tape I use, the dashcam simply falls off within a few weeks.

I've used..the stock double sided tape that it comes with, 3M double sided tape and gorilla double sided tape. nothing seems to work.

THe plastic part i'm talking about is that gray cover in front of the dashcam labelled tether cover...it seems to be just normal plastic. obviously i dont wanna go ahead and crazy glue it...

as for the mounting location of the dashcam as shown in photo, i seriously doubt it will hold onto that plastic either but we shall see.

any ideas?

The plastic looks dirty, wipe it down with isopropyl alcohol before application. Any surface that will be touching the tape too.

You can try adhesion promoter. Some plastics require adhesion promoter to work such as polypropylene.

It could also just be the texture of plastic itself that doesn't allow the double sided tape to adhere properly.

if its the double sided foam tape, try heating it up before sticking it on. Surfaces obviously have to be clean too

The plastic is super clean...and I've also cleaned it. The tape is your typical supposedly strong 2 sided tape. So far so good on the re-mounting behind the cover along top of rear windshield...but its only been a few days.

here is video of how it looks.

3m out door doule sided tape is strong, but you will need to prep the surface to ensure it is clean and free of any oil, dirt etc. Try mounting the mount only with out the camera first till the tape adheres then mount the camera if this is possible.

Maybe scuff the surface a bit to allow the tape to stick better?

If and when you need to replace that piece of trim, it's going to be pretty cheap from a wrecker. Just put a couple of screws through it.
