You sir, blessed the search.

Another car thief gets caught thanks to RS! RS Thieve Catcher! :fuckyea:

Cwift 04-10-2017 07:30 PM

Thief wasn't caught. The car looked to be dumped with a wheel lock on it. Also the passenger side front tire was flat

BIC_BAWS 04-10-2017 07:33 PM

Wait.. How many people from RS showed up?

wheel lock as in..steering wheel lock? the thief seriously put an anti theft device on after dumping a stolen car? oh the irony..

i don't know if people are aware of this (as it may seem cliche) but cops do spread fingerprint dust over stolen vehicles and lift prints. so if he's a complete idiot (which he is, as he managed to get sighted at least 10 times in 2 days) he'll be caught sooner or later

It is definitely the one in 68style's vid. Just some info for those to help tell the difference between this r32 and others.

This is the NISMO edition which as no rear wiper and has 2 spoilers. A high-rise spoiler and a lip spoiler. Also a small nismo sticker on the right side of the trunk.

Since the car has been found I'll ask this. I've seen all of those things done to multiple R32s, is there a part of the VIN that ID's it as a Nismo or do you just check for the visuals and if the hood/fenders are aluminum and assume it is?

BIC_BAWS 04-10-2017 07:47 PM

So there are 5+ people on scene? No wonder cops are pissed. But go! RS go!

cops most likely scared shitless thinking the rs crew was the mob getting the car lol.

Yeah, a steering wheel lock. Pretty ironic lol, but yeah the cop told us that they're gonna check the fingerprints right away. Heard from someone that was on scene earlier that the guy might be living in around the neighbourhood cause he saw him around the car and walked into a house.

Guys, Thank you to all that helped this weekend.

Wilson, Victor you guys are champs and BIC BAWS thank you for keeping this updated.

Yes, he had a lock on the steering wheel.
Yes, there is further damage.

The owner is so grateful for this response.

p.s. There were 2 guys in a matte black 4dr civic, possibly filipino (?). pm me if this is you.

Thank you again everyone

BIC_BAWS 04-10-2017 08:03 PM

So 13 people (excl owner and wife, and cops) showed up? This is some next level fast and furious stuff. No wonder cops are pissed. That being said, good to know RS crew isn't all talk. I'm happy with the way things turned out :)

There were about 500 nismos produced with 60 extra made by Nissan themselves to turn into race cars. So on the vin plate, the nismos should be "BNR32 100001-100560". In this case, it was nismo #357. The hood on nismos also had a small lip by the grille.

safe to assume he's ditched it? too much heat

also had no idea 5g Accord headlamps fits in the R32...thought the hood was just ajar :D

i think it's the headlight of choice for inspection facilities that are stringent on the car having DOT lighting.

happy to see the car recovered, but was there any info on how it was stolen to begin with?

i remember awhile back someone's car was stolen from a mechanic shop by person who walked in the front door and picked a set of keys off the front counter which was left unattended and the thief simply drove off with a customer's car :(

twitchyzero 04-11-2017 08:37 AM

yeah I i assumed people would switch it back after OoP, there may be a icbc liability issue but doesn't seem right to get a rare car and throw on ill-fitting lamps showing massive panel gaps.

anyways, glad for OP's friend for the recovery.

A thank you letter from my friend's son who want to thank the RS community and those who shared the post on Facebook

"A big thanks to everyone for spreading the word about my dad's stolen vehicle and especially to those who helped in tracking it down. The car was found in a residential area in near 41st and Knight last night. The police were called but the there was no sign of the suspect upon arriving at the scene.

For anyone who is a fan of cars, they would know how special this R32 is. It means a great deal to me to see it returned to my dad. Things would not have turned out like this without the help of the community. I really appreciate what people have done for us over the last couple of days."

There will be a follow up to this so stay tuned.

I once found a stolen vehicle which happened to belong to a friend's friend.

The police advised the following:
- Watch at a distance in case they come back, avoid altercations
- Do not touch the car because they need to get prints
