Renewz Wheel Repair

i've been trying to go to this place but their shop hours/location (stupid bridge traffic) makes it difficult. i think SORAT down the street uses them?

R. Mutt 08-10-2017 01:34 PM

Not sure about the SORAT, not familiar with that business. I have to take about 3 hours off work if I do want to get work done there. Say an hour of total driving due to traffic and it takes them around 2 hours to do 2-3 wheels. They usually ask me to go grab some lunch or something since there's no waiting room and they call you when it's done.

is it a proper wheel repair shop? it's not one of those backroom setups where they are spraying it out in the back lane i hope :(

I can't speak for their methodology but it's not a shady shop or anything. It's a legit business with lots of pictures of their work available at their site. However their setup is simple: just the shop work area where customers aren't allowed for liability reasons and a small office. As such, there's no where for customers to wait besides the outside parking lot. I've even seen a few dealerships bring wheels there and they are regulars at car and trade show events. It's a small business, nothing fancy...just a diamond in the rough.

I've taken my Enkei NT03 +M there several times...sometimes with some really bad rash because I had a bit too much stretch with my previous wheel/tire setup. I've always had a good experience in terms of quality, time and price. I also took my OEM Diamond Black BBS Evo 9 Wheels there for a refresh before I sold them second hand.

I have no affiliation with them, I just recommend them because even though I haven't been there in a year or so, the last few times I visited them the outcome was always very positive. I recommended it to some mk7 Golf R guys a few months back on facebook and they also gave positive feedback. Seems like not many people know about the place that's why I'm sharing it.

Renewz here, about 130 ish per wheel. Fast service, usually can get it done 1 day or even the same day.

Anyone know any shop locally can refinish wheel in Brushed clear?

thumper 08-14-2017 10:09 AM

that's tough. back when i was into VIP stuff i knew someone who had that finish, but i can't remember the shop he went to... they did a good job with the brushed finish, but the clearcoat did not stick to it and it peeled after a year :(

I had my lip on my Works re-polished/machined @ NuBrite for $150ish/wheel almost 10 years ago now, there's minimal oxidization on them today.

Bump. Looking to refinish my OZ Superleggra IIIs to a factory look. The clear is peeling from the barrel, which I suspect it's from my Hawk brake pads. Anyway, is Greens still the answer? https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...dd54ee629f.jpg

So far in the last couple of years, I haven't been impressed with Green's. Experiences include dealing with them through work and hearing from people I know. I heard NuBrite is pretty good.

Do these shops usually dismount and mount the tires back on as well?
Or they want just the wheel itself?

JDMDreams 02-24-2020 06:20 PM

Does anyone know if Work Bronze lips can be repaired or only option to replace them?

I know for a fact that Nu-Brite does.

They do, and they do a good job.

I went with Nubrite for refinishing my Bronze Work 11rs a few years back. Wheels were done perfectly (in my opinion) and they asked me to purchase and drop off new tires so that if they damage the finish, it's still in their possession. Got it back in perfect condition.

I had no issues with chipping or flaking for a year. I did curb one wheel eventually and got that one refinished. I think because that one wheel was a ~2 day turnaround time vs the original four at 2 weeks it was rushed as that one started to chip when you just breathed on it. Sold it to a current gen STI owner (red) who is/was on this forum.

Back on topic. Its good to see this recent feedback. My M2 has the oem winter package and the brake pad weights made a groove in a few of my wheel barrels and I want them refinished. I'll do more research but i'm leaning towards Nubrite again

Well in my case, I was avoiding an idiot. Should have just let him hit me tbh.

How do these shops repair actual curb rash? Do they weld and then machine down?
