Those come up for free, quite often, on CL.

Costco has heavy duty shelves (1000lb per level) for $79.99 per set, iirc.

48x72x18 or something like that.

You can line your walls with these. Pretty strong if you drill in the studs.

^^^ can also be gotten at ikea for a really good price. And you have like 10* shelving style and depth options. My bro did it in his garage, I did it in my spare room

Tofuboi 05-24-2017 11:25 PM

Did this in my garage. Bought it all from Home Depot

^^^ exactly what i was thinking as well. i'll post photos of install in a few weeks.

For my garage I used a combination of:
- Re-used junky Canadian Tire cabinets the previous owners installed in my House's Laundry Room (Right front), where I keep all my fluids/cleaners etc so they don't fall off the sides (Right front)
- Some Slot-rail shelves like what cunninglinguist posted (Right rear), cut down the cabinet doors from above to use as the actual shelves.
- Heavy duty shelf brackets with 1" Plywood on top for really heavy stuff like my cylinder heads & tire chains (above the tool boxes on the left)

Crap didn't see this thread earlier
I was quoted a out 100/linear feet for some heavy garage shelving thru garageguru..considering that I'm looking at 10 feet on each wall gawk that
Just ordered some pro#lats from Costco and some hyloft garage shelves from amazon.com it's going to run me about 600.

I find the wire shelving useless, had i known people wanted it i threw out 3 different closets that had it. Things slide inbetween the bars. That's my opinion anyhow id rather get some planks of wood, paint them and hang them on the wall.

agree, wire shelves just looks like they belong in closets

Was looking for wall shelf earlier..found these
https://www.amazon.ca/Amarine-made-R...Shelf+Brackets
I guess they are meant for tables, but I like that they are fold-able, so when i don't need them or I need the space, I can just fold them down.

The other option is a slatwall. But they will be quite expensive if you want to cover a whole wall. Doing just a panel in the middle of the wall looks kinda weird.

agreed it's useless for small things but it you have boxes (obviously not loaded up heavy) the wire shelving is good....but still i'd look at other options in a garage.

I used these in the garage. come in different lengths depending how wide you want the self. Will hold a lot more weight than wire shelves.

I used kitchen cabinets I got for free on CL. Fewer holes in the wall, your shit doesn't get dusty and everything's not out on display.

On that note, if anyone is demo'ing an early 2000's kitchen, with thermo foil cabinets, I could use some more uppers.

Just installed my own garage shelving... I have a shitty tandem garage so ended up doing length wise by the ceiling.
I tried to look for wire shelves but they were a bit out of my price range
I ended up buying these boards and brackets from Home Depot. They were about $40 a shelf with 3 brackets (you can get cheaper brackets of course)

Edit: Shelf board I got: https://www.homedepot.ca/en/home/p.m...000147173.html
