16 PIM in 64 games doesn't exactly scream Dorsett.

I don't think I've seen Motte play, but he must have some talent to garner 64+ NHL games prior to his 23rd birthday. He's basically split his time between the AHL and NHL to this point (65 AHL games, 64 NHL games).

But, with this being his 3rd team in less than a calendar year, it's not very encouraging that other organizations see him as expendable.

I guess we'll find out soon what he's got.

The midget commish is in town to make a big announcement about next season's draft.

Canucks are hosting the draft next year. :fullofwin:

A silver lining in the dark clouds that hover over our team?

-thinking of going to the next year's draft so that I can boo Bettman.

All eyes on Vancouver as NHL set to make announcement - NEWS 1130

NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman is in town, and is preparing for a big announcement expected later today.

While the details of this announcement haven’t yet been revealed, all signs point to him announcing that the Canucks will host the draft in 2019.

Sportsnet 650’s James Cybuski is here with a look at what it all means for fans. “I think for a team that’s rebuilding right now there’s genuine excitement about probably having a top pick, and you’re looking at the Canucks in that position next year, in all likelihood we’ll be looking at another top ten pick, possibly a top five — dare I say winning the lottery and having the top pick in 2019, provided they haven’t traded that pick away.”

Bettman will join Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson and Canucks President Trevor Linden to make the annoucement at a news conference, which is set for 1 p.m.

A news conference with Robertson and Bettman? Linden's going to need a shower after... needs to pick better friends to hang out with than those 2 sleazeballs.

I can't wait until we draft the 7th overall pick in our own city!

Canucks re-signed Biega for 2 more years. #priorities

Expresso 02-28-2018 10:51 AM

With the Calder race over and TDL passing, there really isn't anything to look forward to until the Draft. It's going to be a long four months.

I don't mind Biega as 7th/8th D. He's fun to watch, and Bulldog Biega is #truegrit

it's a good signing, he's a perfect 7/8th dman and can even play forward in a pinch.

If only virtanen can hustle as hard as biega on every shift. He would be top line winger.

:rukidding:

doesn't need to puck in the net or collect assists, just hustle for that first line.

brb imagining first line of archibalds and cowens

Jake only hustles hard on social media in order to try to hook up with girls.

JV18 is going after a girl who streams on Twitch? :Pbjt:

I am hoping benning picks up a shit load of picks for drafting in van next year. Would be nice to see that we are loaded at the draft. Who am I kidding we will probably have less then 7 picks to choose from just like this years draft.

Bouncing Bettys 02-28-2018 01:24 PM

Vancouver get's the Draft to celebrate it's 50th Anniversary. You should be awarded things as part of your anniversary. Like the Leafs, for their 100th anniversary they got...???
Something between what the Habs got for their 100th, which was literally everything imaginable, and sweet fuck all, would have been nice.

Anyways. I'd like to go to this. Is there any indication of when tickets would be available?

Jmac 02-28-2018 01:51 PM

2 year extension in February for an 8th dman in his 30s is insane. How long is Biega an NHLer? How long is he a top AHLer worthy of taking up one of the very limited veteran spots?

That’s a 1-year offseason signing to fill a gap, not a midseason multi-year extension.

I remember being at the last draft that was hosted in Vancouver... We picked Patrick White :lawl:

Nonis managed to be one of the few GMs who oversaw a draft that had not only 0 career NHL games, but not even a regular AHLer.

Throw that together with the trainwreck 2006 draft (where he traded almost all of our picks for players that were all gone for the following season and still managed to miss the playoffs).

MG1 02-28-2018 06:34 PM

0-3 with 7:31 left in first period.

Done.

Good night Irene

MG1 02-28-2018 07:30 PM

Enough already......... how many fucking times within 30 minutes do they have to air that Toyota Corolla commercial. Music is horrible and so are the actors. Except the wife, who's kind of hot. What decent car nowadays not have that feature? /rant.
