Toronto Maple Laughs strike again

spoon.ek9 04-25-2018 06:34 PM

it was a fun game to watch knowing that either way, someone was going to fail hard and lose.

EmperorIS 04-25-2018 06:56 PM

Checked the score @ 5 mins in 3rd, still 4-3. How the fuk did Toronto give up 4 goals

MG1 04-25-2018 07:24 PM

The Leafs, so good.

so much was said about Toronto's speed and skill yet they got DESTROYED on a couple of 4-on-4 situations :awesom:

cuz boston has speed too
but overall
that defence really hurt them

Nabatron 04-26-2018 08:10 AM

Toronto D was the weakest in this series even if they did end up getting past boston they would be screwed in the 2nd round anyways.

whitev70r 04-26-2018 09:34 AM

^ Would trading for Tanev helped ... even a little bit?

spoon.ek9 04-26-2018 09:59 AM

This is all they're talking about on 1040. Tanev trade is quite possible although the asking price will have to drop by now due to injury (albeit flukey ones that aren't his fault). Tanev is the stable, shutdown D they need. He's also able to move the puck in high pressure situations with a calm demeanor, takes hits to make a good pass, etc.

Mike Oxbig 04-26-2018 10:03 AM

give us ANDREAS JOHNSSON and JAKE GARDINER

spoon.ek9 04-26-2018 10:13 AM

-5 in a game 7. no thanks.

Nabatron 04-26-2018 10:21 AM

if want tanev then they will have to start with guys like nylander, kapanen, lilgren and add andreas Johansson as an add in player.

68style 04-26-2018 12:11 PM

In your dreams lol... look back at the return ( or lack of!) the Canucks get on other assets and then re-evaluate what you wrote. We'd be lucky to get JUST Johansson back.

Hondaracer 04-26-2018 12:52 PM

Why dont we just sign Tanev long term? His value is so low due to injuries we are never going to get worthwhile prospects in return and he would probably come at a deal in terms of signing

UFO 04-26-2018 02:25 PM

You drop the asking price on Tanev anyways.

Even the decreased returns of younger prospect/pick is worth more to us than the 2 years of service he has left with us. Or 1.5 really since he'd be prime TDL sell-off in 2019-20 season.

Our defense this year sucked with Tanev kind of in the lineup. How much worse can it be... I like the Islanders approach of just trying to outscore your defensive mistakes

and then finish 22nd overall instead of 26th?
or lose out in the 1st round in back to back years like TML
or how about crapping the bed almost year after year like the oilers...

should trade the guy...but eventually we need to get some defense to complement the forwards

While the difference this year with and without Tanev isn't as pronounced as in year's past, it's still pretty significant. 3.2 fewer shots against per game, 0.33 fewer goals against per game. Tanev was also a +7 on a -37 team while facing the highest QoC and having the highest % of defensive zone starts and lowest % of offensive zone starts of any regular dman.

This year
With Tanev: 17-21-4 (45.2 P%), 30.7 SA/G, 3.00 GA/G, 90.2 Sv%
Without Tanev: 14-19-7 (43.8 P%), 33.9 SA/G, 3.33 GA/G, 90.2 Sv%

spoon.ek9 04-26-2018 05:45 PM

HonestTea 04-26-2018 05:56 PM

68style 04-26-2018 07:17 PM

Wow 5 goals on 13 shots... welcome to Round 2 there Mr. Jones
