As Jmac has pointed out Tanev is still a quality player both via analytics and the eye test, for now. We can keep him and waste his services/value while we soldier on with our kids, then risk losing him in UFA in 2 years. Or we can liquidate him while he still has value to bolster our group of hopefully up and coming kids. To be successful I think your young core need to peak within a 3-4 year window.

By the time the Horvat, Boeser, Petterssen, Virtanen, Demko, Dahlin, Dahlen group hits their stride collectively, Tanev would be waaay over the hill or a semi-permanent staple on the IR, assuming he even re-signs with us as a UFA

I'm at the point where I'm all for trading Tanev and whoever we can to start bolstering our upcoming prospects. Not a secret this current group isn't getting us anywhere and the earliest we can expect a decent team is minimum 2 years away regardless if we win/lose the #1 pick this afternoon
