murd0c 06-23-2017 06:30 PM

I hope the Canucks pick Nic Hague with their 33rd pick tomorrow, guy is going to be a beast and can throw them like the best of them. He's compared to to Darrin Hatcher and Chris Pronger which isn't that shabby either.

Vancouver Canucks: Elias Pettersson

ISS:
Quote:

Scouting Report | Shifty playmaking center has been lighting up the scoresheet and finished the season with 41 pts in 43 games. Had six points in three playoff games, however wasn't enough to help Timra advance. Has received mixed reviews from ISS staff thoughout the season. Had just an average performance at World Juniors Championships worked hard & competed just couldn't get his offensive game going. Good with and without the puck in all three zones, reads the play very well. Good skater and puck skills. Versitile can play both C and LW and has good defensive instincts. He makes players around him better. Like the upside but needs to bulk up and add some grit to have success at next level.

Dir. Of Scouting, Dennis MacInnis | “Smart two-way center. Good skating stride with quality puck skills. Moves well and has offensive upside but his slight frame scares me and he will need to bulk up big time to have a chance to play Pro”

ISS Scout Ben Gallant | “Liked this player, high end effort on each shift. Good puck protection ability and will take hit to make plays, Crafty hands and vision. Skating ability is good with change of pace and lateral movement. Tools to be a playmaker at the NHL level”.

ISS Scout Rocco Zappia | “Offensive winger who can both score goals and make plays. Good skater, not a burner but is still an asset. Nice hands, impressive puck handling ability. Ability to eventually play on a scoring line at the NHL level with development”.

Current Team Timra (SweAI)
Position C
DOB November 12/1998
Height 6.01.25
Weight 156

Size/Strength Good
Skating Very Good
Puck Skills Very Good
Shot Good
Offensive Play Very Good
Defensive Play Good
Physical Play Good
Competitiveness Very Good
Hockey Sense Very Good

Strengths: 1. Playmaking Ability 2. Vision 3. Work Ethic

Weaknesses: 1. Physical Play 2. Strength

Skill: Talented forward with dangerous offensive tools and good speed.

NHL Potential: 3rd line center with offensive upside
The Hockey News:
Quote:

Listed generously, some would say extremely generously, at 161 pounds, Pettersson has an enormous amount of filling out to do before he even thinks of playing at the NHL level. But after being a near point-per-game player for Timra in Sweden's Allsvenskan, Pettersson will put his offensive gifts on display with Vaxjo in the top league next year.

Aside from size and strength, basically all the boxes are ticked off. He has tremendous vision, very good puck skills and a competitive instinct. Pettersson has the ability to produce as a goal scorer and playmaker. But there are scouts who wonder whether he'll be able to handle the rigors of playing in the NHL. "The way he plays now, he stays out of some of the high-traffic situations," said a scout. "So you have to ask yourself whether it's smart to not put yourself in those situations or is it because he's scared? Only one person can answer that. You have to determine whether it's intelligent self-preservation or it's a lack of accountability."

The feeling is he'll get more physical and involved as he puts on weight and gains strength.

Elias looks to have lots of potential. Just needs to put on 40lbs.

Great article on point adjustments for all prospects and how they're likely to succeed based on it

For all of you guys bitching about the Canucks choice

Petersson put up more points than anyone in Div 1 in ~13 years at his age.

Double the amount of points David Pastrnak had, and double the goals Filip Forsberg had.

murd0c 06-24-2017 06:19 AM

Hmm kole Lind as our second round pick

Tim Budong 06-24-2017 06:41 AM
