It's baffling, this doesn't even look like the VGK of rounds 1, 2, 3. It's as if someone told them to dial it down and let the Caps win it. They look slow and tired. Wash is going in to their zone easily, I don't see them doing that aggressive forecheck ... like the clock struck midnight and the magic is gone.

I honestly think that the Caps are throwing Vegas's relentless fore-check right back at their face. Vegas also doesn't have the firepower and skill to match Ovie and Co. And i believe Ovie only has one goal in this series so that speaks volume of their team game. Lets go Caps!

You could be right, as he is ahead of everyone except the tendies in the odds books. That said, I think it will still be Marc Andre who wins the Conn Smythe. He was the difference maker prior to game 2 and 3 of this series. Knowing Marc Andre, he could come out swinging and get right back on the winning track.

Vegas needs to hit the net though. Three scenarios last night of open nets being missed, which for the first half the game would have changed everything. Vegas scores on two of the three chances, and they go into the 2nd down 3-2, instead of 3-0.

No luck for the Knights either. They hit two posts in the first period last night.

How the heck did James Neal not score on that wide open net on that power play?? Neal's shot hits the inside of the far post.

Vegas will not win the Stanley Cup. Too much at stake here. So many people are going to go all hara kiri if Vegas wins.

If it ever gets to game seven and it's all tied up in the third, you know the refs are going to call penalities galore on Vegas. They'd be like two men short for the entire period.

Vegas has gone far enough. They proved their point. It's in the best interest of the NHL if Washington wins it.

I'm starting to sound like CiC. Gulolololololololol

I was wondering the other day what was the diff between the Wilson hit and Aaron rome’s hit in the ‘11 series? Both super late arguably Wilson’s was even later. Yet the league doesn’t even blink... never mind all the runs Fleury has been absorbing

the league wants the Bruins to win since it's better for an original 6 team to win especially being American

The Rome suspension was garbage considering the rules at the time.

#1 - In '09-'10, there were two severe injuries suffered in a similar fashion. Mike Richards' hit on David Booth and Matt Cooke's hit on Marc Savard. Neither resulted in a suspension, but were highly contentious. The GMs agreed during their annual meetings to form a committee to address it.

#2 - In the offseason between the '09-'10 and '10-'11 season, the NHL produced a video demonstrating legal vs. illegal hits, etc.

Quote:
A Lateral, Back Pressure, or Blind Side Hit to an opponent where the head is targeted and/or the principle of contact is not permitted.

It resulted in this infamous hit from Raffi Torres on Brent Seabrook being deemed completely legal earlier in the playoffs.

#3 - Now, keep in mind, this is before the Department of Player Safety, before you could face supplemental discipline for a wide variety of incidents.

Outside of the new blindside hit rule, you basically had to intentionally attempt to injure someone to get suspended or do something incredibly stupid.

These are the incidents that were suspended at the discretion of the NHL front office that weren't related to blindside hits to the head that season:
- Cammalleri spearing Niederreiter in the throat (1 game)
- Wisniewski throat-slash gesture (2 games)
- Rypien grabbing a fan (6 games)
- Briere cross-checking Nielsen in the head on a faceoff at the end of a 6-1 game (3 games)
- Burns grabbing Bernier's head and driving it into the butt end of his stick at the end of a game (2 games)
- Ritola jumping hit to the head from behind on Moulson (2 games)
- Jokinen crosscheck to the throat of Wolski (3 games)
- Shelley crosscheck to McQuaid from behind into the boards during an icing race (2 games)
- Shelley sucker punch on Alberts (2 games)
- Eager sucker punch on Armstrong (4 games)
- O'Brien spear to the face of Weiss (2 games)
- Nichol flying elbow to the head of Schlemko (4 games)
- Cooke hit from behind on Tyutin during an icing race (4 games)
- Martin sucker punch on Talbot (4 games)
- Gillies elbow, sucker punch, and taunting an injured Tangradi (9 games)
- Heatley elbow on Ott (2 games)
- Stoll elbow to the back of the head of White (1 game)
- Ryan stomping on top of Blum's foot (2 games)
- Ruutu late hit on Erat (1 game)

Now, with the exception of the Ruutu late hit on Erat (which was a full 2 seconds late) and the Stoll elbow (which was perhaps an overly aggressive board pin), you really can't argue any of the others were legitimate hockey plays.

Yet, the less than 1 second (NHL said 29 frames using 30 fps video, though 3rd parties have claimed fewer frames) late Rome shoulder-to-chest hit gets 4 Stanley Cup Finals games.

Nah, the Bruins have had their share of cups.

A team that has never won a cup............ it's gonna happen this year, for sure.

I honestly don't care who wins. After sort of watching this series, I've come to like that godless commie.......... he's actually a nice person. Who knew?

And "no neck" Trotz. It would be good to see him win a cup. Now that guy has paid his dues. He finally gets to work with some pretty good players.

All those teams are newer than the last time the Leafs won the cup... so I'm okay with that

Also, Aaron Rome in the lineup wouldn't have made a difference, he should've never thrown that hit in the first place. It was the hit that woke the Bruins up, they really had nothing going their way until they realized they could bully their way through.

^ It wasn’t the hit it’s the drama around it, the league making a big deal out of it and the suspension and the “let’s do it for Horton movement afterward” etc... no punishment for Wilson and it all got downplayed and the Knights are just like “Heyyyy... that was mean”...

The fact that the league threw the book at Aaron Rome, a player that had no rep as a dirty player, was the thing that still pisses people off this day. Colin Campbell was in charge of the discipline action and his son was on the Bruins. Talk about a major conflict of interest.
