mathews marner and nylander need new contracts in 2 years too and if they want to buyout marleau his full cap counts as he is 35+ yeesh |
Thornton has't officially signed with SJ |
Leafs have Marleau but we have Loui Eriksson for 5 more years :gun: |
Marleau contract is the stupidest signing in a LONG while ... Lamoriello going senile. |
Canadiens are fucked, almost $20 million cap hit from just Weber and Price for the next NINE years!! Lol |

Shanahan also signed off on Robidas. |
Robidas was exiled to Robidas Island with Lupul on LTIR. When a team has deep pockets, and can find ways around the cap, the risk can be manageable. I'm sure they have some plan in place to get out of Marleau's 3rd year, like trading him to Vegas so they reach the cap.floor. |
God damn, Thornton 1 year deal with no movement clause for 8 million. He's getting paid! |

Dallas Stars have signed Alexander Radulov to a five-year deal. |
Rivalry between aquilini and gaglardi continues. You pull an eriksson last year? We're going to one up you with radulov this season! |

I know. Just wanted to joke about how both deals are similar. Radulovs deal can backfire like erikssons. Anyone know if Sami salo is back in the organization? |

So anyone got projections for the canucks lineup? Seems like there's 18 players fighting for about 6 spots(either 5 f/1d or 4f/2d). players that need waivers are in bold. f: boeser, goldobin, burmistrov, boucher, gaunce, Virtanen, rodin, Molino, chaput, labate, megna d:wiercioch, subban, holm, biega, juolevi, pedan, mceneny sedin-sedin-granlund baer-bo-boeser Eriksson-ganger-sutter gaunce-burmistrov-rodin dorsett boucher edler-stetcher hutton-tanev del z-gudbranson holm would send mceneny, biega down in first cuts so they make it to the comets |
I'd probably go with: D. Sedin - H. Sedin - L. Eriksson S. Baertschi - B. Horvat - S. Gagner M. Granlund - B. Sutter - A. Rodin B. Gaunce - A. Burmistrov - D. Dorsett A. Edler - T. Stetcher B. Hutton - C. Tanev M. Del Zotto - E. Gudbranson J. Markstrom A. Nilsson Extras: J. Megna, P. Wiercioch, A. Biega Waivers: M. Chaput, R. Boucher, A. Pedan, E. McEneny, R. Bachman Boeser starts in the AHL, called up for injuries, sticks if he plays well. Juolevi spends another year in the OHL. Waivers-eligible (28) Spoiler! Waivers-exempt (18) Spoiler! Ineligible for AHL/ECHL (1) Spoiler! Unsigned prospects (16) Spoiler! |
Why does mceneny need to go through waivers? |
this would be the 6th season since he signed his elc, making him eligible for waiver |
Grenier and Valk signed with Florida today. Not a big loss for Vancouver, but both were good for Utica. Fortunately, it looks like Utica may actually get some decent prospects this season. |
With Boeser getting 4 goals in 9 NHL games I hope he gets a serious look. Wouldn't be disappointed if he plays in the A at the end of the day but it would be great to see an actual rookie make an impact right away like we've seen on other teams. |

Fair enough but if Boeser is ready I'd prefer Rodin bump someone else. Gagner was effective as a bottom 6 last year and I wouldn't be sad if Dorsett went away quietly, myself. |
You gotta make room for Boeser to start the season, he earned in at the end of last season. Give Rodin a look on the 4th line and move Gaunce to Utica. Gaunce was a plug all last season, let him bury a few in the AHL. |
Rodin is useless as a 4th line grinder. IIRC Gaunce had amazing possession stats last season. He just needs some talent around him. |
Wasn't really impressed with his game last season, hes great at checking but that's about it. Possession stats are great and all but if you're plunked on the 4th line for the entire season you're not going to get much talent around. If he does start it will be interesting to see if and how Green can help elevate his game because he needs it badly. |
