Demers nixed deal to Canucks for Gudbranson before trade to Coyotes

Jesus wept so many penalties.

68style 09-17-2017 03:23 PM

Biggest disappointment so far this preseason is how terrible and unconfident Juolevi has been playing... just awful

Jmac 09-17-2017 03:39 PM

Good:
Boeser
Archibald
Virtanen

Bad:
Literally everyone else

Ugly:
Reffing

Not really racist! 09-17-2017 03:46 PM

OJ looked pretty terrible out there cot damn, he better make a big leap in junior this season... he would probably get rekt if he was loaned to Europe

TjAlmeida 09-17-2017 06:06 PM

Maybe he pulled a virtanen and added to much weight. Didn't they say he went from 190 ish last training camp to 213 this year?

snowball 09-17-2017 10:03 PM

Boeser looks great, I hope they put him with the Sedins again this year for a bit.

Well, Jokerit owns his rights in Europe, so unless he signs a KHL contract, he's in London by the end of the month.

To be fair, all of our defensemen were absolutely awful today. Subban and Holm were good offensively, but just as terrible as everyone else in their own zone. All of them looked completely lost on their side of the blueline.

I would've expected McEneny to at least be solid in his own zone since he knows Green's systems and Green has raved about his defensive play in the past (unlike Subban and Sautner, the other two Utica players, whom Green has routinely criticized for their defensive play). Obviously, Holm, Juolevi, and Brisebois have to adjust to a new system, but I still expected them to be better than that.

publicity move haha

sonick 09-18-2017 06:58 AM

No, emergency goalie move.

hard to read into pre-season games

but is it just me or is Trent Cull a pretty shitty coach?
i know it's Preseason and Youngstars where you get a mish-mash of players but it's like he got a bunch of 5 year olds and just told em to play on in the pond while he sits on the park bench reading the paper and drinking coffee

god, OJ having a rough go of it just makes seeing Tkachuk in a Flams jersey hurt more

sonick 09-18-2017 08:28 AM

I give him the benefit of the doubt the first game. The team didn't even get a chance to skate together. Absolutely no chance to learn any sort of system.

It's called a preseason for a reason. Plus all the veterans are on the way to China. Don't read too much into the scores. Look at the individual player performances last night.

6o4__boi 09-18-2017 08:38 AM

yeah, it's a relatively small sample source, but he was also behind the bench at the Youngstars and they looked the same way.

but you could say the same about the Vegas team, it was literally their AHL roster and some try-outs

Glass stood out to me yesterday, i really hope Pettersson turns out. Cus Glass looks like he'll be a pretty solid pick for the Knights.

UFO 09-18-2017 11:25 AM

You can't even look at individual performances too much, since this is such a team/systems game. Just enjoy all the kids out there, and remember that this is what a caps-lock R rebuild would look like haha

Pretty much the Oilers B.M. (Before McDavid)

Liquid_o2 09-18-2017 01:10 PM

Worst case scenario is that Virtanen, OJ, and Pettersson all become 4th D / bottom 6 players... and we are spinning our wheels a couple years from now. And guys like Nylander, Ehlers, Sergachev, Tkachuk, Glass, etc. are all lighting it up.

Way too early to tell and I'll continue to be positive.

6o4__boi 09-18-2017 01:29 PM

Pettersson will either be a top 6 player or not an NHLer altogether

If JV can become an impact bottom six player at this stage of his career, i think it'll at least ease the pain on missing out on Ehlers/Nylander etc.

Too early for OJ, but i'm not liking what i'm seeing. Saw a lazy player who didn't take the Youngstars seriously, and a shaky pre-season showing thus far. For a guy advertised as a smart, smooth-skating d, he's been anything but. Of course it doesn't help when you look at the guy drafted right after

68style 09-18-2017 02:53 PM

^
When he poked that puck forward off his own stick near the end in the neutral zone, no urgency to go try to get possession back and basically just shrugged his shoulders while the LV guy took it around his lazy reach and got a breakaway??? Fuckin pissed me off... not even trying

Still too early to say Glass and Sergachev are lightning it up.

Even for Nylander and Tkachuk. Give them some more time before saying they're stars already.

Not saying they are now. I meant in the future if this were to happen.
