Be interesting to see if Canucks burn a contract on him. I think we are at 47/50 contracts at the moment.
They must be musing it otherwise they would have sent him down already.
Seeing some rumors that there are difficulties with OJ because he can't play in the A, but they don't want to send him back the the OHL. Something about trying to get the Knights to give up the rights so they can send OJ to play in Finland for Salo. Probably what's blocking the signing of Archi as well as they need to be at 23 by tmr night.

Sonick is a genius. I won't go into detail what's so great about his post. But it's damn good!

makes sense, Biega is serviceable and can also play forward if someone is hurt/sick last minute and there isn't enough time to bring someone up from Utica.
Would much rather have Pouliot. As a young d-man, his ceiling is still high.
Travis Green was his coach in Portland when he was CHL defenceman of the year. Look at guys like Justin Shultz... some guys just need the right coach and system to thrive. If anyone can turn this guy into a top-4, it is Travis Green.
I believe Sutter and Pouliot were what the Canucks wanted in return for Kesler prior to his NTC kicking in. Couple years later and both Sutter and Pouliot's trajectory seems to have followed the Canucks'.

Low risk, high reward type trade. Love it.
He's 6 months younger than Pedan and turns 24 in January. He's young, but he's not that young.
Also, Travis Green wasn't his coach when he was CHL defenseman of the year (13-14; Green was coaching the Comets). Green coached him in '12-'13.
I mean, hopefully he turns his career around because we just acquired him and that would be amazing, but this strikes me as yet another Jensen-Etem, etc. trade that Benning has made multiple times and, in the end, we ended up losing a draft pick for someone who got us no further ahead than the previous guy.
23/24 is still pretty young for a d-man. Most don't hit their stride until 25. I'm not saying it is going to work out, but I'd say it is worth a shot for a player of his potential pedigree.
wtf.... he's only an RFA next year, what's the rush in giving him a contract like that?? with his stats, what's the worst arbitration would award him? this is just stupid.
the only argument you could even remotely make is that you think he'll do SO good in the next few years, you'd end up having to pay him 8yrs x 13mil later on. but at least let the kid prove himself first.
I saw that Rodin got sent down, from what you guys have seen in pre-season is he going to be one of the first call-ups if (when) injuries start happening or pretty much locked in the AHL?
I know Ron MacLean isn't universally liked in this hockey market but he had a number of great stories on the Steve Dangle Podcast recently including how he ended up shirtless in this pic:
Eichel is a point per game player. But he hasn't proven that he can put a team on his back and make them better like a McDavid or Toews. At this point, $10 mill is way too much for a player in his position. They are paying him for what he can be.
