Was Willie D back coaching this game? No line matching, plugs playing too many minutes, no adjustments to lines that aren't working (seriously Eriksson is a dead weight to Horvat and Baertschi)... I hope this isn't going to be a "long" season....... I don't mind if we lose, I expect that, but I don't want to lose the same way as before. |
Eriksson hasn't been as bad as some of you make him out to be. Sure, hes not living up to the contract he was given but things like putting him in the press box or calling him "dead weight" is baffling. I can count a few times in last nights game where he made some nice plays (dished to burmistrov in the slot and he misses the net, drop pass to horvat in the neutral zone which he goes in a rings off the post, almost scores a goal in front). Some of you act like he has zero impact on the game, and i wonder if you've even watched it at all. I don't mind him on the bo/sven line, he creates space for them to work by standing in front of the net. He brings aspects to that line that they would otherwise not have with a guy like Boeser. Eriksson is a lot better along the boards and down low. I'm not saying hes better on that line than Boeser, but against a team like Ottawa who clogs the neutral zone and forces you to dump and chase it makes sense. Again, it sucks to see a 6m cap play like a 2 or 3m cap but you can blame Benning for that. It's still so early on in the season. Boeser will get his chance to play, he's a young kid and has a lot of hockey left to play in his career. |
i've liked what I've seen from Burmi so far this season To me, Vanek is deadweight...guy is so lazy away from the puck and generally just floats around when the Sedins have the puck. Least he's cheap but the Sedins deserve a better linemate imo, i'd put JV in there for a spell. It's been nice to see him put his head down and just hustle. He's quicker and more relentless than he's ever been. |

Play vanek more. Make him successful. Trade him during deadline and profit. All this while we tank for 1st overall. Lol Interesting info about Burr from Gilman. His contract. |

That's kind of what I expected, though. I think I'd like Vanek more with Bo and Bae and put Eriksson with the Sedins. The Sedin line is just so slow with Vanek on it (though they have been the only positive corsi line) |

Man, I don't know how 1040 got Gilman, but it's must-listen radio if you're a Canucks fan. Burrows, Kesler, and the Sedins all signed sweetheart deals to stay in Vancouver, although, we know Gillis/Gilman played hardball with the Sedins and now Burrows. Probably with Kesler, I'm guessing. Those 4 contracts (and Lu's), some shrewd acquisitions (Hamhuis, Ehrhoff, Malhotra, Torres), and some typical Salo bad luck (that turned out great) got us to Stanley Cup contention. |

-good article. It seems like coach Green and his assistants are thinking of creative set plays to generate offence from the Sedins and Vanek. Get the twins to set up screens in front of the opposing goaltender while Vanek moves to the point after a faceoff to shoot the puck into a shooting lane while the opposition defence is confused about positioning in their zone. :notbad: |
Boeser is in! |
It's about time that Brock got a chance to play! -need his offensive talent tonight against Laine and the Jets. |
|
Daniel! Sedins have been solid so far in 2 and change games. |
Tanman with 2 in 3 games. Who saw that coming? |
Lots of good chances... just ran into a hot Hellebuyck. |
At least the loss was entertaining and we didn't see names like Megna and Chaput on the ice in the last minute with the empty net. |
Edler is hurt with a lower body injury, only played 6 mins |
sucks that he got hurt but kinda glad that's what took him off the PP Edler on the PP has been horrible for years now lol at the pretty much empty lower bowl last night |

Good for non season ticket holders, can get cheap tix on CL. |
Eriksson is useless! No shots on goal last night against the Jets. His stats line of zeros represents this Swedish meatball well. Round like zeros. :lawl: -good for Green to bench this dead weight for eleven minutes in the third period last night. JB overpaid for this old beater Volvo. |
