That's some captain material right there.
Wears a number to honor some guy he didn't even personally know, just because they were going to be future teammates.

NHL reveals protection lists ahead of expansion draft - Article - TSN

68style 06-18-2017 07:43 AM

^ Fuck, you could build a hell of a team from that list, must be nice to get to completely customize your entire lineup from scratch with all the investment in talent development having been taken care of for you.

Made me even sadder about the Canucks too........ every other team has a "WOW, that guy is available?!" player... but the Canucks... so thin on talent, I just went "Meh, whatever" about literally every guy on the list lol!

XplicitLuder 06-18-2017 07:49 AM

I look at our list and I'm like there's not one I care if we lose really LOL

Blah_Teggie 06-18-2017 08:03 AM

Didn't go thru the entire list. But at least 3 or maybe even 4 future hall of famers are on that list. Jagr, Thornton, Iginla and MAF

highfive 06-18-2017 11:04 AM

its kinda funny how Canucks or aquilini is getting $17 mil for losing sbisa, gaunce or boucher

Same with Toronto. They lucked out big time considering all their best players are exempt from the expansion draft.

Ch28 06-18-2017 04:10 PM

Man, this was a lot harder then I thought. Especially with the balancing of the salary cap. I didn't take into consideration any sort of trades teams would do to entice VGK from picking certain exposed players or any trades that other teams would make with VGK so that they can pick up an exposed player from them.

Went with Staal instead of Dumba because there is a distinct lack of good centers compared to defensemen. Also took a defenseman over a forward because every team is always looking for D, so it's easier to flip one of them for a prospect or pick (i.e. Methot over Ryan)

Some of those guys are pending UFAs like Oshie.

VGK have an exclusive UFA negotiating period right now with those UFAs before they hit actual UFA on July 1st.

Eastwood 06-18-2017 05:37 PM

Why trade for UFA's I don't understand?

Bouncing Bettys 06-18-2017 05:52 PM

Not sure Roman Polak will be ready to skate at the start of the season after that horrible leg break.

10 days of negotiating rights really isn't worth much, though. Rights were generally equivalent to a 4th round pick before the 2013 CBA.

And, let's face it, a guy of Oshie's talent can pretty much go wherever he wants to; not sure an expansion team is at the top of his list unless they're willing to pay substantially more than everyone else (in which case, they don't need the rights, anyways).

lol looking at the list... I think Vegas is gonna have a better team right out the gate than us... :okay:

a product of genius planning by JB or horrible roster assembly by JB? :lol

srsly tho, great that most of our players are too young to be eligible (stecher, boeser, demko, dahlen, goldy, etc)

sonick 06-18-2017 08:56 PM

Losing Marchessault would / will be a big hit to Florida.

Well trading hansen made it possible to protect granlund while getting back goldobin.

Whereas sj needed to trade mueller before the ed for 2nd?

Nope. They will have one of the best prospect pools though. They have too many side deals and will want a top pick next year

Reported in a Swedish newspaper so dunno how legit but if lv picks Lehtonen Dallas will trade the 3rd overall for the 6th overall

highfive 06-19-2017 09:15 AM

Why would LV take Lehtonen and lose their first round pick when they can get Lehtonen for free?

dbaz 06-19-2017 09:34 AM

So they move up 3spots in the draft?
