It is nice to see the young guys taking over for the aging Sedins. I hope OJ smartens up a bit and becomes the true #1 D man the Canucks have needed for so long. Future seems bright anyway. Looking forward to seeing more of Demko as well.

Vancouver, B.C. - Vancouver Canucks General Manager Jim Benning announced today that the club has recalled defenceman Patrick Wiercioch and goaltender Thatcher Demko from the Utica Comets.
Wiercioch, 27, has registered a goal in two games with the Comets this season. In 2016.17, he appeared in 57 games for Colorado, registering 12 points (4-8-12). His four goals ranked third among Avalanche defencemen while his 12 points ranked fifth. Prior to joining Colorado in 2016, the 6-5, 202-pound defenceman spent five seasons with the Ottawa Senators. In 268 career NHL games over parts of six seasons, Wiercioch has registered 74 points (16-58-74).
Demko, 21, has appeared in four games for the Comets this season, posting a record of 3-1-0. His 1.26 GAA ranks fifth in the AHL to date. He made his professional debut last season, posting a record of 22-17-4, .907 save percentage and 2.68 GAA with the Comets, which also included a six-game winning streak in the month of March.

lol any prospect developed by the Canucks all turns in to shit.
If you look at 23rd overall picks from 1988 to 2012 (25 years), Schroeder ranks 15th in games played and, obviously, may move up that ladder another rung or two.
So, while certainly not what you'd HOPE for (i.e. Foote, Giroux, Gagne, Pacioretty, Eberle), it's pretty close to a median pick for 23rd overall.

He played more than 100 games? I thought he was career ahler.
Still don't get why Gillis drafted him that year. You basically drafted another cody hodgson who you drafted the previous year.
Fucking can't believe we wasted 2 years of first rounders. Actually more, ballard year, Jensen. Hopefully Gaunce turns out to be a solid bottom 6.
Biggs was a 22nd overall pick, making the selection even worse. On top of that, the Leafs traded the 30th and 39th picks to draft him. Burke's truculence.
yesterday was a yawn fest
i missed JV's goal cus i nodded off
the kid is silencing his haters, i'm one of the doubters, still don't fully believe in him yet but credit to where its due he's putting his head down and just hustling. If he keeps this up, you'd have a hard time finding any more haters by April
