Takes a long time for a defenceman to mature... if you watch him closely during the games he sees the ice extremely well... his bank passes are at just the right angles on fluid plays, his shoot-ins have just the right amount of weight, he holds the line well.
I'd rather have those types of things already in place and he can learn positioning around the net, reading other team's defensive movements and making safer plays along the boards from the coaching staff.
Nilsson didn't even play that bad tonight, he made some really good saves. The 3rd goal he should of had, and could of been in better position for the Byron goal but there was 0 help from the D today. I'm not just talking dmen either, a lot of it was forwards not coming back and picking up a guy. The Sedins back check/coverage was horrendous as it usually is and that led to a few.
