The Ridge Hey guys, just curious what is required for tech at the Ridge. I'd call but they are closed right now. Thinking of going for a lapping day on July 2nd. I've never ridden a bike at the ridge. I have all the proper gear etc required for a track day, just need some info on what they look at for tech. Appreciate any helpful information. Also I saw that it is a Revscene held event, how does that work exactly? Do I simply call the track and register with them or register with them and Revscene? Plz halp. |
sign up here https://www.motorsportreg.com/events...6#.V-8SWigrIuU https://www.revscene.net/forums/7077...ys-2016-a.html Tech depends on the organizer but generally tires, brakes, controls, chain, no leaks and loose parts. If you want bring it to Bayside or Mspeed they will tech it for free |
I guess my question is, tape off lights, do I need to run water or would coolant be fine? Do mirrors need to be popped off? I just want to make sure when I get there I won't run into issues and cost me a race day. How many days before is the tech inspection good for? I was under the impression tech had to be done at the track. |
You can tape the mirrors or remove them, most people remove them, coolant is fine. Tech is done at the track, what I meant to say is you can bring it to the shop if you are not sure, they can go over the bike with you to see if you have any problems. |
Oh nice! If coolant is fine i'm golden. The bike needs nothing currently and would pass tech no problem then. I'd just need to bring a role of tape and a 10mm wrench. I know this is a weird question but I know some tracks have db level requirement. Is this the case with the ridge? My bike has a megaphone exhaust, still has the cat but is basically a dump off the cat. It's loud but not catless loud. Would this be an issue? |
No DB requirement. Also make sure you have nothing sharp on the bike. Two guys failed tech last time, one for a broken lever and another guy grinded down his footpegs too far. |
I'm positive i'll be fine. You can see in my build thread the bike is in tip top shape. I was thinking of riding down but thought about if I were to lay the bike down being in the US it would likely be a huge hassle trying to get it back. So i'm just going to tow it down with a bike trailer with my bmw lmao. That way if i'm picking pieces up off a track I can toss it back in the trailer. |
You'll be too tired to ride it there and back unless you go down on the day before and return the day after track. But doing it like that adds an extra night for hotel/motel and the US interstates are not kind on soft tires. Trailer is the best option, it's what we did. |
Ya I definitely agree. I'm a little worried about my bike being stolen with the trailer over night in a hote parking lot. Are there any hotels in the area that have underground parking or secure parking? Suggestions? |
Little Creek Casino (near Shelton) has 24hr patrolling security. That's where we stay overnight but right now getting a room might be tough because they closed off one of their towers for renovations. Another option is to drop off the bike at the track the night before if there are some ppl camping there. They'll have overnight security if ppl do that and that's what my friends and I did for the last trackday earlier this month. We left our bikes the night before and went to the hotel. |
Hmmm good to know. I'm planning on leaving after work Saturday around 7pm. Likely won't get there until around 1am. Race the next day then head back home. I probably should call the hotels and figure out check in times if that's pushing it. |
Just be aware if you're heading with the TSS x Revscene group, they may not do motorcycles due to low registration numbers. https://www.facebook.com/groups/7484...?ref=bookmarks Keep up to date in this FB group and see what the latest update is for bikes. |
So what happens if I sign up and not enough motorcycles are registered? Am I not able to race? I'm assuming if that happens I don't get my money back either? |
ugh, management has informed me I cannot get the 2nd off. Next question for you guys (and I appreciate all the answers) are there other events other than the Revscene and Speed Syndicate events that allow people to be part of? Other clubs etc that are easily join-able without fees or small club fees? I read that July 2nd is the last lapping event for Revscene and SS, surely there has to be several other lapping days for the public or clubs that people can join up to be apart of? |
https://www.motorsportreg.com/ These days most racing/lapping events are done through this site. put in the city and find out what's available near you. |
Look into 2fast 2Fast Basically with bike tech, remove mirrors, tape up lights and reflectors (this is so to prevent shards on track if you were to down), make sure everything is in good working order, tight nuts and bolts, nothing will fall off (like an exhaust), good brake and tire life/age. I think minimum requirement for gear is two piece leather suit, Snell 2010 (I'd recommend a Snell 2015) helmet, CE lvl 2 back protector. Also recommend gauntlet gloves. Shortys aren't going to cut it. Just put a bit of common sense into it. Think, "is this dangerous to myself or others?" |
Thanks guys, I have full blown gear. Snell helmet, pants, jacket, back protector, gauntlet gloves, and full boots. Bike has everything removed aka reflectors, plate frame, mirrors. It is sitting on stands ready for a track day with zero maintenance needed at this point with fresh tires. All I need is a race day that lines up with a day off and i'm golden. |
*cough* feeling sick *cough* come to July 2nd |
Hahaha can't use that excuse as much as I would love to. |
