Really though I have a good feeling about this series. CBS is taking their online content platform seriously, as you could see with their first series The Good Fight.
For me it all depends on if they are going the "turn off your brain" ways of the JJ Abrams series, or the more dramatic and interesting series like TNG and DS9. That's what it all comes down to for me. I don't want to "turn off my brain" for Star Trek.

Yeah they are trying way too hard to make it look like an action movie. I hope it's like a lot of trailers that do that, and the real show isn't how the trailer is.
Most network TV trailers at the end of episodes are SO over the top with the hype, I usually don't even watch them.
I really like the new Klingon look too. They look more like aliens now, rather than dudes wearing makeup on their foreheads |

Was just watching this. Its been a while since I have watched a show on old school TV. Damn I can't stand all those commercials in between. Good thing there's other good shows on Netflix too.

I feel like the first 2 episodes were overly cinematic, and the real show starts next week.

I thought it was well done. It feels refreshing. I like how they are staying with the original timeline/universe from TNG, Voyager and DS9. Still scientific with the action in it.

it really seemed like a movie, I only watched the first episode and seems ok so far. It's going to take a bit to get the feeling of it all I think. I do like how my Klingon brother's haven't been seen in 100 years.
All hail the Klingon overlords!!

In TNG they really went into the culture of Klingons. They used their culture as an allegory for traditional cultures that exist today. A lot of the stories revolved around Worf's struggle with wanting to exist in traditional culture, but also move away from it into a more inclusive modern culture.
In Discovery, they're just scary aliens.

They spent like 8 million dollars per episode. It looks like it too. I wonder how the rest of the season will turn out. FYI, outside North America, this show is in Netflix.

am I the only person who thought it was just okay? well better than okay, but not great or anything?
yes, I love that there's finally another ST. however, i'm sick of freaking prequels. Also from the previews for the rest of the season, it looks very average.
I sure hope i'm wrong though! i'm a huge ST fan, and would love for it to awesome.
So far Michael has not grown on me yet ... however I do like her 100000000000000000000x more than janeway (and anyone in voyager except 7...) I hope the rest of the regular cast will be decent.

The actual episodes are definitely better, although I spent most of ep4 half asleep so I'll have to check it out again (been having issues with sleep lately)
I like Burnham and most of the cast so far. I really like that skinny guy
