Buying Alcohol in Bulk?

Weird question, I know. Just hoping for some insight. I'm looking to buy probably around 30 bottles for an event.

Any idea where I could get a good deal?

Question is going to be "30 bottles of what"? That's the big question. Probably something like Hennessy or Patron.

Spoiler!

Have you looked into the requirements for a special event liquor license, and the method by which you must purchase said alcohol? You are probably going to be disappointed.

Event is going to be a party at my house....

Don't think we'll need a liquor license though I appreciate where you were going!

AFAIK when I used to work at a bar there was never bulk discount for alcohol and this was purchased directly from BCLDB. We paid the same as you pay in a store.

As a restaurant we used to be able to buy from the bcldb for a small discount. But it won't be something that an individual would have access to. Your best bet is to hit up the smaller distributors but for things like Hennessy you won't have any luck. Local wines and craft beer are more likely to be given at a discount to individual buyers.

The nice thing about buying from the BCLDB is that you if you buy more than you need you'll have no problem returning whatever's unopened.

If I remember correctly from another thread, that's a bad idea.

It's actually illegal to transport alcohol from one province to another. I know it sounds silly, but it does often get enforced. The fines are not worth it.

Don't ask me how I know.

Your best bet is to be going to a private liquor store and see if they can do anything for you. But, as stated above, the benefit of buying from BCLDB is you can return what is unopened after if needed.

Had to buy all the liquor for my upcomming wedding, at the end the day the BCL is still the cheapest by far for almost everything.

private stores occasionally have sales on cases of beer etc. below BCL prices but wine, booze, etc. BCL cant be beaten.
