if you go to regency, tell them the fat fuck with the wrapped LC sent you. They'll treat you right.
If you go to openroad and talk to philip, tell him the fat fuck with the LC, RX, RX, ES, SC430 sent you and he'll either run for the hills or have that typical old chinaman look where he pretends youre not even talking to him and slowly fade into the background.

Lol
So I received a response from Shane at Regency, straight forward guy who provided me the info I was looking for so I've decided to provide him a deposit. It'll be a long wait but I think the GX 550 will be worth it.
Side note, I never thought I would talking allocations with a Lexus dealer and same with Toyota dealers.

youre looking at the new new one (2024 model year?) its pretty bad ass looking, but i wouldnt buy first year production no matter what the brand is. Especially when they are using new fangled technologies thats not yet stabilized.
if you wanna move up the allocation list, just say you have a trade in and youre looking to finance/lease. Then they'll have a raging hard on to sell you a car cuz they can double end both deals.

Many of these lists aren't based on deposit sequence, but rather what your trade-in plus deal structure is. You can probably get one faster by accepting a lowball trade.
And I agree with Hobz, I wouldn't rush to get the first model year.

First year is a concern so we'll see what happens. Btw, I emailed Philip as well. Let's see who wants to make a deal and not waste time.

By the time it gets to you it will be 2025.
You can always decline if they call you up, and said you are not ready on your end yet.
At my dealer, you don't lose your place in line, we just call you the next shipment, which could be 10 months later lololol. No joke, we had 1 shipment of 2023 Tucson PHEV this year so far (and we are at the end of Nov)... and like 5 units came on that shipment... so.... the next shipment will definitely be 2024 MY lololol

Yah, I'm reading online about Toyota/Lexus allocations. Insane that some dealers go months without allocations for certain models. I'm not in a rush so if I receive allocation a year from now that's fine by me.

The luxury trim has the 22" wheels, and I've had all sorts of issues with the 22" tires on my X5. Also, the US trims are different from the Canadian trims based on what's been leaked online.
The reason why I'm opting for the Lexus is the wait time. Toyota LC wait times are much longer and tbh only one dealer is willing to even take a deposit for it. The rest of them have basically told me I'm too late and the list is 2+ years deep.

Must be the anxiety over the 4R being real quiet for updates.

In the beginning of the year I went and ordered my new RX350h from Regency Lexus. I was recommended by someone to deal with Frank at Regency. He gave me the keys for the test drive and told me to take my time. The entire experience was all positive. I ended up getting my 350h in May.
I could have went to the local Openroad Lexus 10 mins away, but I didn’t want to deal with dealer add-ons and the crappy game they play with trade in and financing. My opinion, I felt like Openroad doesn’t care/appreciate my business. If I don’t buy from them, the next Chinese baller with tons of money will buy the car and probably jump the line and get the car ahead of me.
2 weeks ago, my dad went to Openroad Lexus to inquire and maybe put down a deposit on the new Rx450h and the the sales person asked the typical questions: do you have a trade in and will you be leasing or financing. They mentioned they the wait will be probably be at least a year.
The next day, I told him to go to Regency Lexus and see Frank. Frank provided the same positive experience. My dad ended up leaving a $1000 deposit on a RX450h. No guarantee how long the wait was going to be.
TLDR; Regency Lexus is my preferred Lexus dealer in the lower mainland.

Must be the anxiety over the 4R being real quiet for updates. | I feel like you must know someone who works for Toyota or have a buying history with them to get a straight answer. I suspect that inquiries from randoms like me trigger red flags. They probably assume I'm a flipper or a straw buyer.

TLDR; Regency Lexus is my preferred Lexus dealer in the lower mainland. | I had a much better experience with Regency Lexus as well. As I mentioned earlier, I reached out via online chat last week. Shane G followed up with two emails, unfortunately, they ended up in my junk folder, so I replied to him a couple of days ago. He provided a lot of details and was very upfront about wait times and how the allocation process works. I provided him with the $1000 deposit yesterday, so let's see how long it'll take to get an allocation.
The worst communication I experienced was with Lexus Northshore. I used their online chat, and a salesperson appeared, stating that he could put me on the list but required my information. I provided my contact info and he tells me 'Give me a few minutes, I'll email you now.' It's been 24 hours, and I still haven't received an email from him lol.

My buddy who works at openroad lexus has ran into SO SO many problems with them.
Exhaustive list of first year problems off the top of my head.
- New UI software crashing. not working, not being intuitive. The old lexus user interface was bad enough with the joystick, but this new one is even more horrid apparently
- Doors not opening during the winter time (thanks toyota for making this electronic door lock bullshit) even though car is unlocked
- gas cap misaligning to bodywork
- digital fob/2nd fob not working
- engine sounding very rough and coarse

350h is the hybrid with the 4 banger NON turbo + CVT + hybrid drive train.
The regular 350 is the 4 banger turbo.
They also have the 500h which i believe is just a more powerful hybrid drive train. No difference in gasoline engine sizes.

I haven't driven it enough to make any long term ownership feedback, but based on owning it for about 6 months and short trips within the city: - UI software doesn't bother me too much. Its actually great for us. I hate it when it gets too complicated to operate basic infotainment functions (radio/navi/settings). I haven't had any issues with apple carplay (wireless) and or other software related. It's a big upgrade over my 2018 4Runner Ltd that I previous had.
- I have the Heads up display (HUD), but i hate the touch sensitive buttons on the steering wheel as my thumbs always touch it by accident.
- Not a big of the new electric door handle. Instead of pulling the door handle outwards, there's a open button behind the handle that you press to opens the door. I miss pulling out the door handles
- Weird not hearing the 'thump' when locking and unlocking the doors; i always press lock or unlock thinking that I didn't press it correctly.
- When the gas engine turns on, it doesn't sound pleasant. It does a acceptable job getting around town but don't except to race Civic's up the hill.
- Gas mileage is suppose to be great, but we haven't driven it enough to see it yet.
- I don't have the misalign gas cap issue on my Apr/May build date RX
- We only received 1 FOB and 2 metal keys when we picked up our car in May. Still haven't heard anything yet from the dealer on when we will receive the 2nd one. I don't use the digital key to lock/unlock/start/drive (Telsa like) from the Lexus app even though it is available on our model.
- 87 octane is ok; the manual "recommends" premium, but the minimum octane is 87

Still kinda hunting for a Model 3 Performance though lolol
The tesla loaner does have full FSD ... its slower and a bit sketchy, but I was joking with my wife, what if I just FSD + Uber eats deliveries lolol ///
Anyways back on topic.... tbh me + my parents still do have a soft spot for the RX... at least to my parents there is nth else on the market...
the MDX is a no, they think its "too sporty" or not "old man like enough"
the infiniti is just a no
all the Germans are a no because my parents drive their cars to the 250kkms
the domestics... well... yea... that's just a straight no without even trying to consider them
That leaves the RX... on its own, my parents wouldnt even cross-shop with anything else... lolol

My parents bought an RZ and like it more than their Model Y and RX. It has a lower range and doesn't charge as fast as the Y, but they don't drive enough to hit either limitation. The trade-off for better build quality and familiarity is worth it for them.

The RZ isn’t bad but I’m worried the damn wheels will fall off like before. Like I said first year production isn’t my cup of tea. I got a feeling the RZ will go the way of that Lexus HS sedan. The one off hybrid sedan that didn’t make it into the second generation.

Well, the HS looked pretty weird. And they also killed off the CT which is not bad but a weirdo car kinda like my Corolla iM aka Scion iM as 69style likes to call it.

Hs was like a Prius but it wasn't? Like Camry hybrid drive train. Ct was like Prius I'm? I wanted a ct for a daily before but people wanted stupid money for them.
I'm so confused with the new names, there's like gx tx now? But still lx? They have like 6? SUVs? If you throw in the rz. Rx has a billion models and l version.
I feel like they are doing a Infiniti, Acura when they changed their name structure and ruined their brand
