That's actually not super ridiculous pricing wise... I believe a carbon rim for a road bike is around $1000 if I remember correctly. Now considering this is a much larger, more involved product, the price kinda makes sense.
That would make for a cool coffee table base when one inevitably gets a crack in it and becomes a paperweight

Have you seen how many Porsches are "collected" or purchased as "investments" these days?
I agree to a certain extent but there are some manufacturers that are even worse for that. If you compare the amount of high mileage Porsches to Ferraris, then it becomes more evident.
