1996 skyline gtst tachmeter issue

Hey guys..

My tachometer on my 96 skyline have started acting up... aometimes it work but most of the time it just wanto sleep.... wiring wasnt the issue... my tech knowledge is limited, but is there anyway that its not wiring or gauge cluster related? Just didnt wanto buy a gauge cluster and find out its the same lol.... any help will be much appreicated..
