| Best spot to install dashcam
Just got a new black tesla and need to get a dash cam installed. Any recommendations?
I'm being a bit paranoid about taking it to a shop where they're careless and might lean on the paint and scratch it or something...

Yeah, just DIY. Takes like 30 mins to yank the A pillar cover to run the wire and find a switched circuit in the fuse box. If your pillar has an airbag, run the wire behind it.

Recommend to DIY if you are worried the shop techs will damage your car. Just buy the dashcam online or Blackboxmycar locally.

DIY if you're confident in figuring out the wiring fuse box (not sure how DIY friendly teslas are), but +1 to blackboxmycar for professional service

I'm confused because of your thread title. Best spot to install your dashcam or best shop to install your dashcam??

The rear is the best spot. That way you can review the footage of the drivers behind you, trying to figure out the color of your brand new Tesla.

Trouble is, obviously hasn't researched much. Installing dash cams on Black Teslas is the hardest color to do it on. Elon has mentioned this in interviews before when discussing cameras. Thats why most people are buying the other colors.

The joke was simply OP giving unnccessary info that his Tesla is black. Quote:

Shop - soundsgood
Spot - behind review mirror with lense just sticking out of any sensor area
also my car is white. made it a lot easier during install.

If you are looking to do just a 1 channel system, the Model S is not that bad to do. Fuse box position is a bit awkward. I would attempt a DIY if you think you are capable/somewhat mechanically inclined.
2 Channel install is an absolute bitch though, the grommets are super tight and the panels are quite tight with clips that have a tendency to break. It is a 3-4 hour install for the front and back system.
