Tire rotation and installation

I want to buy some tires from costco but don't want them installing. Any recommendations of better shops around here that will take off the current all season tires and swap with winters on them? How much would this cost?

Speed Syndicate any good?

I have used the local Kal Tires with good results, but like with every other big chain, each shop can run differently.

Looking at the 2 receipts I have with the local Kal Tires, they didn't charge me for taking off the tires and putting them on. They just charged me for the tire balancing and TPMS.

I think it should cost $150 max, with $100 being spent on tire balancing. $20~$25 is the average price for balancing one wheel.

What about to take off the current wheels from the rim and installing the winters on those? Will this damage the lifespan of the tire? I want to put winters on the current rims and buy new ones for the all seasons

If you got oem wheels, any shop like Kal Tire should be ok..

If you got nice wheels, take it to Speed Syndicate. If I'm correct, they have a corghi touchless tire machine. I DIY spray painted my wheels and TSS didn't even scratch them. They know how to handle wheels.

Why not? They have the lowest price and their warranty is better than anyones that I know of.

KM's dont lie. i took a picture of the KM's before they took it in and KM afterward. I doubt it'll take 1.2kms of "finding" parking in the lot.

Did you complain?

Sometimes I'm paranoid when I take my car to the shops so I take a pic of my odometer with part of the windshield showing so that you can see the outside environment too. Just so they know the odometer was taken right outside their shop before I handed over my keys.

I spoke with the manager lightly about it since nothing happened.
I was worried that after 1 day im suppose to come back for retorquing and that if I made a stink they would hurt my car during those and future rotations. I do all my family's cars there so I don't want a bad rep with these guys.

No idea if you charge you for that.

The first time I went to Kal Tires, I bought the tires there, and the second time I went there, my rims had nothing on it. They didn't charge installation as far as I can tell.

As long as you are not doing it regularly, swapping tires wouldn't hurt the rims.

And since you are getting 2 sets, why not just go for performance tires for the summer set?

If you were buying new rims and tires I'd suspect any decent tire shop would do as you ask free of charge.

TSS dismounted my tires, and drivehard mounted them back on.

No issue with either. Drivehard did charge me what I would consider to be a lot for mounting 4 tires ($300), but that was due to issues related to remounting my TPMS and valve stems. As long as you get them to commit to a price ahead of time they do good work.

Have you looked at a Costco parking lot? 1.2km is basically 1 lap of the lot.

+1 for TSS, combination of touchless machine and the care of the tech resulted in something better than I expected. I had those clamp on weights and TSS got them off without damaging my rim.

I would still get a second set of rims, steelies if anything, just so that you can do your own tire swap and rotations in the future.
