Slim wallets

Been looking at a slim wallet for a while now.
I'm currently using bifold leather wallet and thinking about getting one of those card holders with money clip. There are a lot of options on amazon and ebay.

Any personal first hand experiences?

Me too. I'm thinking either the Flipside 4 or the Ridge. There's another interesting one that's being produced here in the GVRD. I believe it's on kickstarter, but not available for a month or two. I have a Bellroy for my gift cards and I'm happy with it, but need another one, preferably with RFID protection for credit cards.

Really liked this one.......... BUT.........

These guys are having issues, big time. The bad of kickstarter.

Ive owned the carbon fibre Ridge wallet with money clip for a year now, and I absolutely love it!
Only down fall with the ridge is if you ever want to keep a picture in your wallet....but even then, if the picture was small enough it wouldn't be an issue.

I have the Ridge and I don't even use it. Is just not the same as a wallet. The issue with the Ridge is that taking any credit cards/cards out is such a hassle.

DO NOT GET KEPLERO
i was an idiot to back them for $200 in Nov 2015 with est deliver of Jan 2016 being the most backed wallet i was sure it would be good

still nothing...look on their indi/ks comments and facebook there are thousands claiming it to be a huge scam....they dont reply to msgs and emails
the few who got it say the build quality is crap and it doesn't hold together

they haven't even filled most of their backers' goods and have already went on to make version 2

so I finally filed a chargeback...what a PITA

Pitaka on the other hand seems like the complete opposite...great service, better build and more affordable. I'm waiting for the new one that works with old magnetic strips

Have an old Umbra case. Works ok, except when you wanna put cash in it with all your cards.

Never failed yet and I've had it for over 4 or 5 years.

I just pray the bungee cord thingy never fails or else I'll lose all my shit!
(which I know it will, just a matter of time)

Someone at work has the Secrid wallet and it's exactly what you need.

I've felt it in hand and it's definitely high quality. He's used it for years now as well, so it holds up.

Can the cards RFID be skimmed when there's multiple cards in close proximity? I know when they first came out most people only had one card with that functionality, but now lots of cards do. I did a (not very scientific) test at the grocery store once, I held two cards up to the machine and it couldn't register, so does the data of all the cards get jumbled together?

I have the Bellroy card sleeve. I like it. I have my Shoppers Optimum and Air Miles cards on the outside pockets and about 8 gift cards inside (US McD's, Canadian McD's, Best Buy, Cambodian Tire, Home Depot, shit like that). My wallet is where my credit cards are held. My go to, PC MC World Elite and Enhanced Drivers license are in my phone case (RFID protected). If I can get a nice slim wallet to take the place of my wallet, I'd be a happy camper. No shit in the back pocket, Bellroy in left front pocket, other slim in right front pocket and phone case in shirt pocket. That's my EDC shit right there. I use to carry this in my pocket, but it was heavy..........

https://www.victorinox.com/global/en...l-M/p/1.7725.T

.......... it came in handy maybe twice in ten years, lol. Now it's in a drawer somewhere. Not what I'd consider EDC. It may have been, in my younger "MacGyver" days. Thing is, back then there was nowhere near the kind of toys people have these days. Back then it was paper clips, hairpins, wired bras..... nvm.... they didn't have those back then, gulolol. I would have checked........ "Girl, we've got to save the world........ give me that bra!" Whole new meaning to "Cool Starry Bra."

For any1 paranoid enough to want RFID blocking, plz just DIY and stick a sheet of aluminum foil on the inside of your wallet.

For a bit more style, cut another sheet of fabric (anything thin would do) and glue together with the foil before putting in and you'd hardly notice it's there.

That's the one I was talking about........ company is based here. I noticed the Translink Compass card and was like, W-T-F?

Ansix Designs - Design. Model. Prototype.

Check out the video.....

http://fantomwallet.com

....... Canadian money, skytrain station, etc.

Lol, dude in this video reminds me of Orgasm Donor......... kind of.

okay, maybe not.

EDIT: product ships from Hong Kong. Not made here. Having it shipped here is more expensive as shipping is free to the US and I believe you won't get dinged for taxes. That's like 16 bucks total, USD.

just received my wallet today, heres a quick review

the wallet itself is made of a plastic trim with 2 pieces of aluminum on each side. the trim and the actuator itself that pushes out the cards is made of hard shiny plastic, kind of like the trims u find on exterior of cars. the outside plastic trim also acts as a spring to the actuator, which i think will break eventually through use. aluminum is brushed, as can be seen in the pictures, and it will be scratched to shit in no time. the money clip itself looks to be well made, very sturdy, and held on by 2 allan screws which u have to attach urself. i ordered the fantom 13 which is supposed to fit 13 flat cards, or 8 raised cards. u can also use the money clip to hold some flat cards as well. the down side to this, or any other slim wallets is theres no place to hold paper cards like stamp cards. i managed to fit 8 raised cards and a flat DL. since space is tight inside, if u dont fill up the wallet with cards, what ever cards u have inside will bend since card sizes vary a bit. one interesting thing is, besides the lifetime warranty for defects, there is also a wear and tear warranty which u can use to purchase another wallet at 50% off MSRP as long as u send urs back or prove its destroyed, u can also change colors/sizes through this warranty.

TLDR: for $64CAD(wallet only)+ $25CAD(Ti money clip), i expected the build quality to be much higher than what i had received. i mean it functions exactly as described, but pictures on the ks site looks a lot better than in person.

I use a Dosh Luxe wallet.

https://www.doshbrand.com/internatio...tion/luxe.html

Been using mine for over seven years. The wallet is pretty slim-- slots for six cards and a money clip. RFID option as well. Get the Aero if you're picky about the width of Canadian or Euro bills.

I've been using the EZGo Slim for the last little while. I have the old 1.0 version of this wallet. Wallet is decent but it doesn't really hold more than 3 cards. Mostly use it for more dressed up occasions when I don't want a bulky wallet showing through my pocket.

https://ezgo-wallets.myshopify.com/c...ucts/ezgo-slim

Those CF/hard wallets look pretty cool - how do you guys find the comfort factor with those wallets? I can't imagine they'd be very comfortable in your pocket when you're seated.

quick update

after using it for sometime, im starting to like it. i applied some carbon fibre wrap on the aluminum sides to prevent it from scratching, and the actuation to fan out the cards has became smoother. i guess this is prob from me fiddling around with it which wears the card corners down a lil bit. funny enough 2 of my friends ordered it after playing around with mine.

I just got my Fantom Wallet. Got the Fantom 10 version from the kickstarter and wallet is smaller than I like, doesn't fit as many cards as I thought.

Also mines had two defects, stripped back screws and one of the screw wasn't even screwed in, the plate wasn't machined in. Not sure how they could miss these during assembly...

Annoyed I have to ship mines back, but I asked for a Fantom 13 replacement.

On the bright side, the slim design is nice lol
