| PSA - ICBC rates going up tomorrow

And they've been having network issues since yesterday. Still managed to process mine though.
Just a heads up, if you just got a winter beater or are planning to insure your winter car.

Are you thinking/saying you can get cheaper rates if you go and renew today than if you were to do it tomorrow?
From what I've been told by a few of the ICBC autoplan brokers that I've been to, it doesn't matter once the rate hike has been set.
I am not sure if I 100% believe their stories though.

might have to bump up my deductible to try to offset the costs, i didn't realize you could go up to $1000 (thankfully my oem replacement insurance through optiom has deductible reimbursement but i gotta see if there's a lifetime/annual/deductible limit)

So a friend called up an ICBC agent to ask, and he was told that if the renewal date is after Nov 1, there is no difference whether you renew today or tomorrow.
I guess that means if your insurance is already expired today, you could still avoid the 6.7% rate hike?

So my car currently has storage insurance.
If go purchase one year insurance and pay in full today I will get the current rate and there won't any kind of adjustment?

| I am hardly surprised body shops are milking the ICBC tit for all it is worth. Undoubtedly, express claim shops help customers streamline the repair process tremendously. But note that even if all damage estimates must be conducted by ICBC estimators, there may or may not be any overall savings. We'd need more ICBC estimators / adjusters for starters. The longer wait from the repair process would also mean longer car rental periods. You'd really have to get ICBC to grind out some hardcore numbers to see which way would be cheaper.
(or we can just require tougher licensing requirements so that random monkeys wouldn't be able to get behind the wheel...  )

Injury claims and lawyer fee's are the #1 reason why rates are going up

Insurance broker I went to after I transferred the plates from my Lexus to my Verossa messed up and ICBC re-sent me new papers. 300 dollars knocked off on the year. $2400 a year now on 1 million/500 coll/300 comp/Roadside.
