twitchyzero 11-11-2017 11:11 AM

sure hope they did their homework and don't make the same mistake as NCIX...3 openings in BC within 6 months?...expanding quite fast

Razor Ramon HG 11-11-2017 10:36 PM

Apparently Canada Computers is coming now too as per their location website.

Burnaby, Richmond, Vancouver, and Coquitlam.

ime2006 11-14-2017 12:22 AM

Holllly.....what just happened ?????
NCIX is going DOWN !?!?!?

man...i am way too slow on those news.

PC stuff ? no margins... they have to rely on quantities to survive.
How do you get quantities if there is just so few population in this country ?

Worked for Anitec, and Future Shop...

They are all gone and gone...
Retail store eventually will be all gone...

Amazon will be the real empire.

Canada Computer has announced 4 locations in Vancouver area.

1st address has been announced.
Canada Computers Burnaby Address: 5068-B Kingsway, Burnaby, BC V5H 2E7
Soon to be ex-NCIX Burnaby Address: 5068-B Kingsway, Burnaby, BC V5H 2E7

edit: other locations include Coquitlam, Langley, and Vancouver.
reddit.com/u/exncix seems to think that cities for those stores are not just coincidentally the same as NCIX's other stores.

TOS'd 11-14-2017 02:16 PM

1900 West Broadway, kitty-corner to the existing NCIX, lol

Masterful trolling by CC, or are we waiting for the announcement that they took over NCIX?

With NCIX's condition not seeming too great, I wouldn't be surprised if the landlords and NCIX both agreed to just offload the stores instead of paying the lease exit penalties.

Canada Computers' other announced locations include Coquitlam, Langley, and Vancouver.
Excluding Burnaby, NCIX has stores remaining in Coquitlam, Langley, Vancouver, Richmond and Surrey.

WTF? I got super pissed and told them to cancel the order. Then I bitched at the girl, her name is Julie Huang, not sure if she still works there lol.

LOL

Wow crazy, had no idea this was going on.

Less than 2 months ago, I went to the Kingsway location and bought myself a new, very expensive laptop. I was there on a weekday during work hours (I have Mondays off), and the store was empty, so service was decently fast.

My sister in law was working for NCIX graphic design department like, a year ago. She helped me get a very hefty discount on a 65" 4k TV when I first moved into my apartment :P

I'll miss NCIX... always liked most of their sales.

I remember Julie used to work at Bubble World on Kingsway. Her high pitched voice was super recognizable anywhere.

twitchyzero 11-14-2017 08:50 PM

I don't know this sales rep but unless she personally ran off with your money and then ghosted you, could we not publicize full names in here with linkedin profiles?

20 freaking years of building your client base
and still no official statement from the owner...not even a simple thank you
instead they're gonna to let their competitor break the news...?

6793026 11-14-2017 10:51 PM

^What official statement do you expect? From what I recall, CEOs or owners (of BCBG Max Azria, RadioShack, Payless ShoeSource, Gymboree, True Religion Apparel, Toys R Us) didn't come out and apologize for going bankrupt or explain they suck and having a tough time staying afloat.

Competition is just riding the wave. Wouldn't you? I would.

Tim Budong 11-15-2017 12:33 AM

GG NCIX
Thats all I have to contribute

AstulzerRZD 11-15-2017 06:10 AM

Latest rumor is that the retail locations (Richmond, Vancouver, Burnaby, Coquitlam) got informed of the takeover

none of those started as local mom & pop's...the closest example would be Futureshop which was already merged by an American corporation over a decade before killing the brand

I appreciate it when small businesses like cafes and bakeries closing their doors writes a thank you statement for patronage over the years

but instead of answering emails & calls, apparently they're still actively deleting posts on their forums

I guess I just want them to salvage even what little sentiment and empathy I have left for them
