NCIX Landsdowne is now closed to the public and will be permanently closed by this Friday: https://forums.ncix.com/forums/?mode...nt=0&subpage=1 |
According to their forum, Vancouver is closed as well. -Mark |
Isn't Burnaby like their core / oldest store? Has that been closed too? |

As per their forum: https://forums.ncix.com/forums/?mode...nt=6&subpage=1 "Yes it is true, Lansdowne, Broadway, Burnaby & Coquitlam will be closed by end of this week. If you have any orders not being picked up we will call you and you can pick up from our office in Richmond. " |
Damn, saw this coming but didn't think so soon. I wonder when Memory Express will get axed. They seem to have even fewer sales than NCIX... but they're expanding? |

As well, MemEx owners' primary business is real estate.. MemEx is more of a side project and they sometimes own the building that the store is in so profit expectations aren't quite as high. |
that up keep cost of employees and building leases has to be stupid for how many places they expanded. the amount of angry people who had bad experiences from ncix they've must have hired fucking retards with no social skills or sale skills but just there for the money, all brand new to working for the lowest pay. i think amazon.ca is taking over for computer parts too, they take about a day to match sales of competitors and the door delivery is real nice without walking anywhere....Cheaper prices too first for computer parts...i bought my GPU There real cheap and they shipped all the way from usa to Amazon canada just so i would get it delivered with no down time as a long time user. |
fuck ncix, they treat their employee and customer like shit. |
i never really had bad experiances with NCIX, but yea, with amazon prime now it's usually quicker to order parts from them than wait for stock to ship from richmond to whichever location youre picking up from. Kinda sad cause i always liked NCIX. As mentioned above NCIX probably had ridiculous leases and overhead, but they probably still did OK for a long time. When you see the little ma and pop computer shop on some corner in vancouver, those have to be a front or the owner owns the building because who the fuck is going to those places anymore lol |
Had no idea this was going on, thought it was odd seeing the Coquitlam store closed up early a week or two ago I've always had great service at netlink computers and ncix I haven't needed computer parts for a couple years now tho As for memory Express I've had both ooo and bad experiences I Just remember I've got $150 in NCIX gift cards! |
As much I love my desktop PC, I thought it was pretty much a dying breed. Kinda surprised ME and CC are stepping in to replace NCIX in the B2C space. Or will they generally not get market share in the B2B space without a retail front? |
My guess is -- B2B sales will almost always require at least some sort of support. If you don't have a physical store / physical staff locally, how are you going to provide that? |

recently came across my ATI 9600 Pro from like 15 years ago...the NCIX sticker on it is nice and yellow cool starry bra |
ME is really really strong in Alberta. Their key and main goal is to always own their buildings. ME in Vancouver is still struggling. Even their Winnipeg / Saskatoon is making money way way way before Van. What CC & ME gets on the back end is ridiculous. The population market and sales volume surpasses what you see at NCIX. |
So sad seeing my childhood go down in flames. Spent a lot of my money in high school at NCIX before I started spending money on cars. Guess this is what happens when you don't evolve and adapt your business. |
I think like all of us used to be avid customers of NCIX and I remember the Linus Tech tip days on their youtube channel. But ever since Linus left, their channel kinda sucked. Also I hate doing returns at NCIX which they charge a 15% restocking fee for your returns.......rather shop elsewhere and I have. |

I used to shop at NCIX.. but most of my purchases recently are either ME or on amazon... the customer service skills at NCIX is crappy compared to ME... |
I know many of you said the customer service was crap but for me, I never had a problem. Very helpful when I had questions and took their time to explain it to me. Took their time and checked my builds to make sure everything was compatible. Didn't have complaints with their customer service. However, I never bought anything from ME before. Never experienced their customer service Anyways, sad to see them go... NCIX was my go to place for building rigs since high school. |
I can attest that ME is very strong here in Edmonton. They recently opened up a new flagship store on the Westside. Anyways, solid guys to talk to if you want to nerd out or figure out solutions to whatever issues you may have. |
The company I work for does anywhere between $200-300 million is product sales yearly.. They're in the food industry and are located in most retail stores, and even Costco.. ~80% of their sales comes from Amazon.. The retail industry is hurting, and typically you dont need computer parts the same day, most people would be fine with a 1-2 day wait at a discount. Online shopping is the way of the future. As for the sales staff, you really dont need 3-5 employees for walk-in sales. I mean probably more than half the people that enter the store already know what they're going to buy. |
