how exactly is a distributor kept in the dark?

even if they haven't been on reddit/rfd, like most industries I assume word spreads fast

guess it's not surprising they want to have another go even so deep in the red...I thought at least a different field but the owner's clearly delusional thinking he still has any trust left in the hardware business

A proposal is decided upon by the majority creditors, so it'd only be rejected if the majority creditors think there's enough assets to recover in a bankruptcy (which i doubt).

If they live to die another day, you can rest assured NCIX will not be able to conduct business the same way going forward. Seeing as the creditors are also the vendors/distributors, i'm sure they will have some serious controls in place when dealing with NCIX.

If the suppliers in this industry are anything like the suppliers in the construction industry they'll whore themselves out to the reincarnate without skipping a beat and it will be business as usual.

Stupid as it sounds I see it happen all the time in my industry, these dumb asses keep getting burned and they keep extending credit. ABC 2015 is going out of business, you owe us tons of money but you need credit for your new company ABC 2018? Not a problem how much do you need? We want to be your go to supplier.

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if that's what happens in the construction industry in this day and age. Real estate is huge, construction is necessary. I'm sure suppliers would not have any issues taking a gamble like that.

www.ncix.com is down, that was anti-climatic, no apologies to customers, no nothing lol

6793026 12-21-2017 12:48 AM

^ dang, i didn't realize it wasn't up anymore.

side note, i don't understand why people expect someone to say "thanks for yrs of business" or "sorry we are filed for bankruptcy"

Company (eg// NCIX for sure went down to next to nothing, staff wise; accountant, and a few family members + some core staff. I doubt anyone even know how to access corp website anymore.

The_AK 12-21-2017 08:59 AM

They should have at least sold the domain name, could have at least made some money back on that given the number of traffic they were getting.

Lansdowne is getting entirely re-developed starting before 2020 anyway... probably got the lease for next to free.

Pretty sure that's not the case. They'll be building in all the parking lots before the mall gets torn down.

As well, T&T is moving in next summer... not like they spend 1 year to renovate the zellers/target store for 2 years of business.

They don't need to close to construct a little city there. Did Brentwood mall close when they re-did that entire area? Nope...

Go by Lansdowne and read the billboards at the outer edges of the parking lot. Ask the retailers in the mall, all the small stores are getting the boot as their leases come up. I've lived in Richmond my whole life and next to Lansdowne for the better part of 14 years.

Same with Richmond Centre, the entire Sears parkade and Sears building is being torn off the mall and turned into towers.

Richmond has always had a restriction on all towers, not necessarily even because of the airport (though that is a factor) but also the ground doesn't support anything more than ~15 floors (will appear as a 17 floor building due to China not liking 4th or 14th floors). Not sure why someone even brought that up as a potential factor against this happening.

I thought they banned bypassing floor numbers because of issues w/ the fire department? Or was that only City of Vancouver?

^
If only they did that for Richmond, some cheap real estate to be had on those floors :awwyeah:
