phone insurance/AppleCare alternatives

Anyone have suggestions for an alternative to AppleCare?

I'm mostly concerned about cracking the screen or back. AppleCare+ seems a little pricey at $250 + $39/$129 deductible for 2 years.

Rogers / Fido Device Protection Plan is $11 + tax monthly.
around same price as AppleCare+
but it also included loss/theft

Only insurance available for you is the 90 days purchase protection on most credit cards if you purchased the phone outright (no gift cards) or Applecare. No other alternatives.

I was thinking about companies like SquareTrade, but in Canada.
Kind of like this?

Never heard of that before. Looks like they're somewhat affiliated with Swappa. I wonder what the deductibles are.

deal with someone or rather somewhere u can physically walk into a store or reputable companies when it comes to warranty. if u want to save money. dont get warranty to begin with.

Every non-apple warranty replacement I've ever done has been a hassle. I got my screen replaced on Applecare and it took a few hours. I always vouch for paying for convenience.

I bought the insurance for my iphone 5 through Rogers. They told me if I had no issues or repairs they would refund me as an in store credit, so I did. I had issues with my charging port and they replaced it but found out they were aftermarket parts from a shady asian shop downstairs. I asked them why aren't they sending it to Apple or using Apple OEM parts. They told me they didn't have to and it would be too expensive and too long of a wait. Never again and I would suggest buying the AppleCare through Apple any day.

Use a good Visa to make your purchase. Most have extended warranty + accidental damage insurance included.

Generally the credit cards only cover if you're buying the phone outright.
