Rey has been fighting all her life, training with her staff. Seems reasonable that she'd be good with a light saber too, especially if The Force is strong with her.

As for Droids piloting a huge ship into light speed, while barely able to control an AT-ST, and not being able to pilot anything other than going straight throughout the series, I found the plot acceptable

What is stupid is that she didn't share the plan, or at least didn't give a good reason not to. Even if she suspected someone was a mole, they could have said so

the idea rose popped out of nowhere and was automatically accepted by Fin off the bat, after her sister just died....how sure was Fin she wasn't on a suicide mission but he still said okay,Follow me EleGiggle

What did you all think of what happened that fateful night between Luke and Kylo? So in the movie, Luke told his version first (leaving out the trying to kill Kylo part). Then Kylo told his version to Rey. Then Rey confronted Luke about what really happened and he fessed up.

Does Leia know what really happened? Was Luke carrying that guilt with him? Is that why he went into seclusion? If that incident did tip Kylo's psyche into turning to the dark side ... what is writer trying to say?

snowball 12-23-2017 12:27 AM

I liked all the parts with Luke, Rey, Kylo and Luke's passing was perfect

Really weak on the side story with Finn and Poe this time. What on earth.. Rose.. it feels like the writers tried really hard to make the audience like her... Trying too hard = makes me like her even less. The kiss came out of no where and they dont have any chemistry. The Rey and Finn thing from TFW also felt really forced..

ScizzMoney 12-23-2017 09:00 AM

I didn't really get how luke died. Maybe I should watch it again. Force projection or whatever is suicide? Leia doing the MJ freethrow line dunk was kind of goofy too.

Obi Wan did it in the original Star Wars trilogy.

Kamui712 12-30-2017 04:49 AM

This movie should've been called "star wars: stalling for time" that is pretty much all the protagonist s are doing.

WTF Moments:
- 90% of the rebels died because of Po, Fin, & Rose's failed plan
- In the first battle, there were like 6 star destroyer cruisers but only the dreadnaught was fighting the rebels... why didn't they do anything?

Cool moments:
- Kamikaze light jump into Snoke's ship, really great effects and look. Loved it.

hotshot1 01-01-2018 03:10 PM

This movie was shit.

The prequels were also shit movies but they at least stayed true to the Star Wars universe. This movie took everything and threw it out the window.

If you can come back as a force ghost and interact with the world then Luke should come back and kill Kylo or Yoda should summon lightning on Kylo. Movie over.

If you can hyperdrive into something then why didn't they do that before? Why didn't they do it to the original Deathstar? We're expected to believe that someone just thought of this now? And why didn't they do that with the medical ships before they ran out of fuel? Ugh.

How is Rey able to take on the Royal Guards when she's never had any training with the lightsaber? And how is she able to swim when she's been on a desert planet her whole life?

I can go on but man this movie was just horrible.

ScizzMoney 01-01-2018 03:41 PM

Why are people so hung up on the 'Rey hasn't had any lightsaber training!!!!11! :yuno: PJSalt PJSalt WutFace "

In the Force Awakens she clearly has practice with a staff. In all likelihood she probably also has used a short one handed staff similar to a sword. When I first started playing hockey my parents bought me a plastic stick. As soon as I got a wooden stick it wasn't completely different.

Do you guys need every detail of movies spoon fed to you?

"OMG how can Rey run! She didn't have run training!"

Star Wars fans must be fun at parties

FN-2199 01-01-2018 03:59 PM

I rate it 7/10. Cut out the casino planet visit and the movie is instantly a 7.8/10.

320icar 01-01-2018 04:25 PM

Man last night at a party of 25+ people, everyone fucking hated it. I don’t see where all this anger is coming from. It was fine. A solid 7.5/10. Was not amazing, was not spectacular, was not shit, it was just fine. I was also fine with the milk scene lol. It was world building

I laughed for a solid 10 minutes reading this .

I agree with most of what has been said in this thread since I have now seen the movie. I suppose SW is put on a tall pedestal so the level of scrutiny is assumed to be high. Even with plot and physics holes throughout the film I still thought is was thoroughly entertaining. The hyper drive through the spaceship was an incredible scene and worth watching the movie for. Sit back, enjoy the cinematography, enjoy the fantasy world that is SW and don't pick it apart too much and it's an enjoyable watch.

GS8 01-08-2018 05:32 PM

Just watched the movie. I already forget half the people's names

- Commander guy sent all the bombers do their death including engineer girl's sister. Did she have the force? That one final kick knocking the remote into her hands couldn't have been done through physics alone right??? Also, why was the dreadnought doing all the work while the other ships stood by and the rebel fleet hyper the fuck out of there? Then when they arrive again with Snoke's ship, they just pot shot them while the Rebel ship fuel depletes. So I guess Snoke's ship had nowhere near the armaments of a Dreadnought? Not even a junior Dreadnought?

- In the Casino, they were after the guy in the white suit but ended up finding Del Toro in prison who is capable of doing the exact same things? See all his codebreakers? I'm guessing hackers are the thieves in space? I feel like he's quite capable of escaping on his own but doesn't until the gets work maybe? Or was that the right guy I missed something?

- The damn birds on the island and the crystal foxes on the planet. Typical Disney shit. Amusing the first time and then annoying after that. Coupled with the 'rich city built on the backs of the poor'. I hate political grandstanding like this because it's not needed. Who cares about this planet and this engineer girl's rambling self-righteous diatribe. I could not attach myself to anything she said. Not sure if it was the acting skills or just another character to throw in the potpourri. I get they were trying to showcase the adventure but it was boring. The animals running through the casino (ohhh the vengeance) wasn't enough to salvage that scene.

- Snoke. Agree with everyone else. Very little screen time, it was clear he wasn't going to last long despite his powers. I always thought part of the SW lore is to have an epic bad guy but this one fell flat

- Emo Darth. Yup

- When they mass fired on Skywalker on the planet and he was unscathed. Wouldn't the first thing on everyone's mind be projection? Doesn't give Kylo much cred

Overall, I'd say the film had too much going on leaving me distant and not really caring which sucks. I didn't mind Rogue One so this was disappointing by comparison.

7/10

That interracial kiss though clicked all the right buttons for me OpieOP

M3E46Fanatic 01-08-2018 06:31 PM

Didn't really enjoy any of the new star war movies with the new characters. None of these movies even come close to being half as good as the originals. The new characters don't do a good job portraying the movie

MSREE 01-08-2018 06:37 PM

I loved chewie + the owls interactions and also the ice wolves/foxes. Snoke is super ugly and borderline terrifying for me so the cute stuff was relieving. I moreso saw it as BB8's movie and everybody else are just his supporting actors lol.

Warp speed Kamikaze can be abused and overused. Can't they kill a death star with the technique? As cool as it was, I wished they never opened this option

I thought exactly that too. But then I also thought that Leia would never allow people to kamikaze themselves but then again, I am sure you can program droids to fly the ships.

But hardcore starwars fans are saying that the rebels actually couldnt afford and have the resources to kamikaze their ships. They only have a limited amount of ships cuz they poor AF. lol

They don't have any ships left to use in the next chapter. :fullofwin:

This was so shit. Like who the fuck is Snoke. Absolutely no character build up Just terrible from beginning to end. Thank god I watched it for free

Tone Loc 02-06-2018 07:47 PM

Saw the reviews and decided to skip watching it in theatres.... found it through an "alternative" source today. It wasn't terrible, but I'm a pretty big Star Wars nerd so I can't really hate anything that makes me relive my childhood. But it was definitely not as good as Force Awakens, or even Rogue One.

I'm not usually one to poke holes in movies but this one had more than I expected, mainly:

Spoiler!

As for the whole "warp speed kamikaze" thing, I do remember in Return of the Jedi, Vader's Super Star Destroyer was eventually disabled when an A-wing flew into the bridge. When I was a kid I always wondered why they didn't just always do that.

Vansterdam 02-06-2018 08:00 PM

I enjoyed it but agree the casino scenes were pointless. also the whole Snoke thing wtf?

Hondaracer 02-06-2018 09:11 PM

Personally i really enjoyed the movie and thought this was probably one of the better movies of the "new" movies (everything after the orignal 3)

Plot holes are plot holes, it's a Disney fiction.

OR

they could just hyperspace a larger ship into a planet instead of building death stars and star killers.
