Purchasing a used phone off craigslist

Hey guys had a bad experience purchasing used phone off craigslist is there anything i can do to make it more safe for both buyer and seller?

Thanks man appreciate it, kinda feel its a bit too much to buy a s8+ at 1200 now since it been out for almost a year now.

Here is what i did. I hopped on that 85/mo 10gig unlimited everything else phone plan with bell, traded in my s7 edge, I walked out of Bell paying 0 dollars (no porting/activation/sim card) fee.

I was paying 60 dollars previously and was happy with my phone plan so this was only an increase of 25 dollars per month on a 2 year contract.

25 x 24 months = 600 dollars amortized over a 2 year year period.

At the end of 2 years I will cancel my contract with Bell (if I cannot re-negotiate to a 60 dollar per month plan) and still have my S8+ which should still be useable at that time.

Either way I am coming out ahead based on what I am currently paying and comfortable paying. Instead of paying 1200 upfront for the phone I like, I paid zero dollars upfront and 600 over a 2 year period - makes it more tolerable. and I did get an increase in my data and phone plan as well.

For the peace of mind, better to just get a new phone if possible.

I bought a used phone off eBay (Samsung S5) for $130 cad few weeks ago. Bought it to use to fly my drone and game.

Did it once before buying a use Note 4. The seller(from Richmond) was cool with meeting at the vpd station. Phone was legit.
