CUV/SUV suggestions?

Im in the market for a new vehicle and looking towards a CUV/SUV.

My Requirements:
Panorama Roof
AWD
$30-$36k

These are the main requirements.. then the others would be
Milage
Maintenance
Safety Features (Lane departure warning, autonomous breaking, etc)

I guess the more extra features the better.

I was looking at the 2018 Hyundai Tucson 1.6T SE AWD for $33,424.00
City 9.9L/100km, Hwy 8.5L/100 km, Combined 9.3L/100 km - probably not the greatest..

Any other suggestion?

Whatever you get, not the Nissan Rogue ... see other thread.

Here is what one article ranks as Top 6 in this category. Should be no surprise: Honda CRV, RAV4, Forester, followed by Equinox, Tuscon, and Mazda CX-5

That article is bang on. The CRV is spacious and does everything well. The CX5 handling is far superior.

Love our new CRV, for the Panorama roof you are going to have to break your budget though.

That panoramic roof is super nice for the rear passenger. As the driver I don't get much out of it. Regular sunroof is about the same.

Frankly speaking, the sunroof is one of the last optional items I'd miss. Looks good in the showroom and novel maybe the first 2 weeks of ownership ... then it's like too hot, too bright, or too cold to use. And then the potential of leaks a day after the warranty expires.

Same sentiment as V70R, on sunroofs. I'd take the cx5. No CVT, proven drivetrain, lots around for parts availability. Small turbo engines in a cuv don't do it for me.

Subaru is nice but interior is a bit lacking for me. 2018 crv is really impressive and a lovely interior. But Mazda CX-5 in that amazing deep metallic red is a very very attractive vehicle and I love every time I drive one. But I have no idea what kind of motor it has or what price point it is. But that colour.... fuck I love it

If fuel mileage is one the most important factors for you, I was shocked how good the Forester was! I thought gauges must be wrong. It was doing like high 7.xL/100 kms. But the trade-off is a boring interior.

How about an awd wagon ? Vw golf sportwagen. All wheel drive and handles better than all of these. It's also cheaper than all of these. Plus you can get it in a stick for this year

I picked up a 17 Tuscon 1.6 awd with panoramic sunroof end of the year. Love it, I haven't had any issues at all yet, torque down low and handles decently for a small SUV. Prefer driving it over my mom's 16 cx5 (not a fan of the new Mazda styling with the thin skinny lights either). Interior doesn't feel cheap with the leather option, and there's plenty of room in the rear seats for adults. No complaints here. DCT takes a little getting used to, (some minor rolling on hills, needs a little more gas than conventional transportation to get moving on said hills), but once you're over the learning curve it's great, crisp changes and no lag.

I'm in the same boat, looking at a new CRV EXL or CX-5 GT. On paper the CRV seems like the superior vehicle (better fuel economy, braking and interior room), but the CX-5 has better driving dynamics, looks/styling and no CVT. I'm leaning towards the CX-5 because I like the new styling. The new CRV is fugly.

For 2018, the CX-5 has cylinder deactivation. I'm not sure I want to deal with the potential problems down the road, may see if I can find a deal on a 2017 or a lightly used 2017. Waiting to see if they will release the CX-5 diesel in 2018.

CRV looks and feels like old people. Once our CX5 lease expires this summer we are picking up a CX9. Looks fantastic, has plenty of power and interior is amazing for a $40k SUV.

Outdated and crusty For me anyway, the CRV and RAV4 is in the same category as a Lincoln or Buick. Nothing wrong with them but they don’t inspire the youth crowd.

So.... you don’t like the crv or rav4 and you don’t want a cx5 because the family already has one. So you’ve shot down the top 3 in the segment lol.
