Just read through the whole wiki page. So it seems that Jimmy Carter, Clinton, were in favour of giving concessions to North Korea for stopping nuclear weapons development. W. Bush didn't agree, and waived those concessions. Obama gave them sanctions. Am I missing something here? |
Basically.
-North Korea provokes with threats.
-Clinton tries diplomacy. Conceding 4b$ to aid in development of light water nuclear reactor.
-Congress gets cold feet and North Korea takes it's aid (thanks suckers) goes home and reopens it's nuclear facility.
-North Korea provokes with threats.
-Bush says no dialog without complete disarmament.
-North Korea continues threats, launches missiles, continues it's nuclear program
-North Korea continues provocation
-Obama attempts tougher sanctions. Tries getting China on board.
-North Korea continues threats while building up nuclear capability.
That's pretty much the thumbnail sketch from my understanding.
All three admins have tried diplomacy. Sanctions. Everything besides barking back. So I really don't see what the alternative is there.
My personal opinion, NK ain't stupid enough to mess with US when push comes to shove. They're crazy. But not suicidal. And I think Trump knows that.
But hey, that's just my opinion
