Sticky Brakes
 

I just recently purchased a 2015 Grand Jeep Cherokee with 36 000km on the vehicle and we had the car fully inspected by BCAA with no issues with the vehicle at all.

Recently my wife noticed that the brakes are sticking now.. When she's driving and presses the brakes, the car slows down and out of know where the brakes jerk the car and continues to slow down to a full stop.

Is this because the brake fluid is contaminated? I have taken a look at it and it's clean with no debris in the brake fluid.

Any suggestions? thanks in advance.

Could try to rebuild, but most shops will just replace it with a re-manufactured caliper. You may want to get a shop to diagnose the root cause.

On my old BMW M3, I had coilovers and on the front passenger side, it would kink the brake line and ultimately cause the caliper to seize. It was such a fucking nightmare and after a bunch of back and forth phone calls with the shop that built the caliper, they realized it was a design flaw. Fuck.

Clean and lube the sliders and scuff the pads first

Shouldn't it still be under warranty?

Sounds like a transmission issue shifting from 2nd to 1st. It's common for the jeep cherokee. I believe there"s a tsb for that issue a transmission software update.

Curious about the outcome of this.

If the brake caliper was sticking, I would think that the rotor would wear out a lot faster than the others, and perhaps even pull to a particular side, or even have that familiar burning caliper/brake pad smell.

I just got the calipers replaced and no more issues at all.
