I tend to go to old school agent.

My agent planned a trip for me and saved me 20% than what I booked myself.

plane ticket = no one makes money at an agency, (yes they might be able to book u a window seat way before hand) but don't go in asking for a 20% discount on flights.

Hotel & packages is key and where you can leverage so much discounts. I even had an agent credit be back money cause the package dropped in price. I never see that.

Agreed.
We took two family vacations in 2017. The first one was set up by an agent, and it was awesome. Everything was taken care of, and our trip was full of activities. There were no issues at all.

The second trip I set up myself. It was a nightmare. Dealing with the car rentals, hotels, airlines, and activities was a royal pain. In the end I was overcharged for my rental car (fxxk you Budget LAX!), I spent hours finding hotels for our final few days at the beach, and there were days that we were bored because we had nothing planned. I was okay with drinking cervezas in the hotel pool, but not every else was.

Imho, agents still have their place in the travel world. If you want the hassles to save 10%, go for it. But for any future travel, I will go with a travel agent.

You Have to research the place you want to go even just a little bit. Then go to a trusted agent with the knowledge and pricefrom that research.

^ PM me.

1) One dude traveled to Europe and saved $500 per person.
2) another one which I've learned was flying to certain places eg// Maldives. Everyone wants to rent those huts and turns out there is like an in between flights to get to those remote places.
3) Then there are some cruises .. damn Cruises to France (6 cities), flights in, food, excursions + wifi were all included.. I was so blown away so you need these internal hookups from agents than expedia.
4) Las Vegas trips are the best; FUCK internet, my agents somehow always gets me free breakfast and $100 room credit + pre booked seats at the bare minimum.

YMMV per agent so just pick and choose and see.

YES if you want to compare hotel and flights with kayak, kayak is still going to be cheaper cause you're comparing just specific legs, the more complex it is, the better hotel deals you'll see.

go to tripcentral. they have "classic price grid" that you can customize depending what you are looking for.

packages are pretty much same on all sites. as they are only so many suppliers.

mexico - prominently americans (food is ok, shitty booze but depends what u pay)

cuba- best beaches. good crowd as no americans, only cad or euro. (food is shitty, booze is awesome)

dominican - is middle ground of above
